28 photos show how Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton, and Prince William’s relationship has changed over time

Chris Jackson/Getty Images, Samir Hussein/Getty Images Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, and Prince William were once known as the “fab four. ”  The relationship quickly soured after Markle and Prince Harry stepped back from the royal family.

But since Queen Elizabeth’s death last week, the “fab four” have reunited on multiple occasions.   Markle made her first public appearance with Harry, William, and Middleton on Christmas Day 2017. The Queen broke protocol by allowing her to join the festivities in Sandringham before she was an official member of the royal family.

The event was Prince Harry and Markle’s final engagement as working royals — and hence their final engagement with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

William and Middleton didn’t turn around to speak with Harry and Markle before the ceremony. BBC OnePrince William and Prince Harry reunited for the first time in over a year during Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021. They walked apart during the funeral procession and were seated separately for the ceremony.
