Got it! Jun 24, 2022, 10:22am EDT | Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Destiny 2 Bungie At this point, we have a general sense of what’s going on this season in Destiny 2’s Season of the Haunted . Calus has returned with the Leviathan, and he now appears to be more or less just pure consciousness pervading every inch of his old ship. He is currently hovering over the Moon, linking to the dormant pyramid down there we discovered in Shadowkeep, effectively downloading himself into it with Nightmare energy.

We are trying to “sever” his connection to it, hence our Sever missions, but Eris keeps saying it doesn’t quite seem like we’re actually accomplishing that. So, I have a theory about where all this is going, and how in the first real season of the year here, we are setting up for Lightfall in 2023. Here’s what I got.

The Pyramids, controlled by The Witness, are seemingly all-powerful enough to do things like shut Rasputin off like a lightswitch. Their ultimate goal seems to be to confront and destroy the Traveler, which has been fleeing from the black fleet for eons. But they haven’t.

They’re just sort of. . .

hanging out. While they are in our system, they have planted active pyramids on Mars, Mercury, Io and Titan, yet not Earth itself. My guess is that there is something preventing them from going to Earth directly, where the Traveler resides, some sort of internal defense mechanism the Traveler possesses to prevent an attack on either it, or the planet it protects.

While I don’t know when or how or why the Pyramid under the moon got there, I assume during the first Collapse, and it was left behind when the black fleet left, we now learned that Calus isn’t just doing this consciousness transfer for fun, he’s doing it at the direction of The Witness, which Eris told us this week. As such, I wonder if the plan is to “reactivate” the pyramid inside the Traveler’s “safe zone,” given how close the moon is to earth, and if there is some sort of unseen defenses perimeter, it would already be within that. Otherwise, I don’t know what’s preventing the Witness from sending one of its other dozens (hundreds?) of Pyramids to confront the Traveler directly.

I think it needs something snuck in, like this dormant moon Pyramid. Then…an attack? I mean, the literal name of the expansion is “Lightfall,” implying the thing that gives the Light, the Traveler, could…fall. The logo is a pyramid on top of a Traveler-shaped orb, and to me that indicates some sort of conflict.

I feel like Lightfall could begin or end with an all-out assault on the Traveler by the reactivated Calus moon Pyramid, allowing the fleet to move in for a second attempt a Collapse. Lightfall Destiny 2 If the Traveler is badly damaged or even destroyed, we still have one more chapter in the Light and Dark saga, the Final Shape. One of Savathun’s truths/lies has been that there are other Travelers out there, so either we could see their arrival maybe, or things could go a different way, where humanity itself becomes the lone vessels of the Light and must take on The Witness with the Traveler gone.

Then, we enter a new saga, free of this Light and Dark conflict overall (even if I expect we won’t lose all our powers). I think this is setting up something large and devastating by next year, but we’ll see how things progress with two more seasons after this one.
