Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo were involved in a backstage fight at AEW Dynamite. Credit: AEW Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo were reportedly involved in a backstage fight ahead of AEW Dynamite stemming from their tense Twitter TWTR feud. Andrade was sent home as a result of the altercation, and Andrade’s Mask vs.
Career match against Preston “10” Vance has been cancelled. In what was supposed to be a celebratory anniversary broadcast of AEW Dynamite, tonight’s broadcast only served to remind fans of how ugly AEW’s backstage environment has become. Guevara took to Twitter yesterday to lash out at Andrade, who told Mas Lucha (h/t Wrestling Inc ) that Sammy Guevara complained backstage that Andrade hit him too hard.
Guevara called out Andrade, who is rumored to be frustrated in AEW, telling the former WWE Superstar to “just go back to WWE and [expletive] off. ” Guevara also called Andrade a “jobber” and a “favor hire. ” Andrade responded by saying he would see Sammy Guevara at AEW Dynamite and confront him to his face.
Despite the obvious danger that lay ahead, and even on the heels of a massive backstage brawl at AEW All Out (which resulted in the reported suspensions of CM Punk and The Young Bucks), AEW President Tony Khan was helpless to stop the inevitable backstage brawl. If Khan’s leadership skills— or lack thereof —were in question before, they’re now in question with an exclamation point at the end. Tony Khan has simply lost the respect of the AEW locker room and failed to alleviate lingering tensions that have no end in sight.
AEW Dynamite advertised National Scissoring Day featuring new AEW world tag team champions the Acclaimed and the resurgent Billy Gunn. Gunn’s popularity as Daddy Ass has even inspired WWE to batten down the hatches in preparation for potential “Daddy Ass” chants at the Barclays Center during Monday’s D-Generation X reunion. AEW Dynamite also advertised Rush vs.
Hangman Adam Page; MJF vs. Wheeler Yuta, Darby Allin vs. Jay Lethal, Wardlow vs.
Brian Cage and a tag team main event pitting Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia vs. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara. Guevara was in the news this week outside of this main event due to his budding backstage feud with Andrade as AEW backstage feuds are becoming as common in pro wrestling as baby oil and lip fillers.
Not that there’s anything wrong with either. “You can call it a cold match if you want, but sometimes things start out of new issues. Not everything is going to have weeks or months of build going into it, although a lot of stuff should. ” “There’s been a lot of build to a lot of this stuff.
And, if people have been telling me there hasn’t, they’re completely full of sh**, or they’re just not paying attention. ” Last week’s broadcast of AEW Dynamite was up down with 990,000 viewers. AEW Dynamite Results MJF def.

Even though Lee Moriarty got involved after, I remain hopeful that MJF will move on to bigger and better things. With AEW losing one talent after another to backstage brawls, AEW needs MJF more than ever and this man needs to be in more high-profile feuds. Darby Allin def.
Jay Lethal Jay Lethal and Darby Allin showed good sportsmanship with a handshake at the end, and I had to make sure this match wasn’t being competed for an ROH title. Darby Allin and Jay Lethal actually had a very good match, but pro wrestling Twitter was knee-deep in Googling this Andrade vs. Sammy Guevara brawl.
Wardlow def. Brian Cage Brian Cage and Wardlow had a banger of a big-man match. There were points where fans rose to their feet to applaud the athleticism of a Wardlow hurricanrana.
The pop FTR received has to be heard to be believed. Tony Khan really does need to book these guys. Wardlow, FTR and Samoa Joe should all have their own storylines.
I’m not a fan of these talents as part of a potential stable. Athena, Willow Nightingale and Toni Storm vs. Jamie Hayter, Penelope Ford and Serena Deeb Backstage, heel Britt Baker noted Saraya will not be wrestling in AEW, which means she inevitably will be.
I remain terrified. Serena Deeb received a massive reaction from her hometown crowd in Washington D. C.
as they chanted “Deeb!” Between Jamie Hayter and Serena Deeb, the babyfaces were in the awkward position of being treated by this crowd like they were the heels. This was never more apparent during the lukewarm tag from Nightingale, who is typically beloved by live crowd. Surprisingly, the babyface team won.
After the match, Saraya hit a kick on Reba as the countdown to her in-ring return continues. National Scissoring Day Whenever there’s a glaring controversy in AEW that the “Edgy” Max Caster isn’t allowed to rap about, he defaults to Joe Biden Bars. A 58-year-0ld Billy Gunn has the No.
1 selling t-shirt in AEW because he started hanging out with younger, cooler Black people. Hopefully through Daddy Ass, AEW can realize the effect The Culture can have on the rest of its product. Fans were going crazy for National Scissoring Day, giant scissors and all.
Fans booed the Washington [Redacted], but cheered for Max Caster’s dad, who played for them. Max caster said there is no left, no right, no red, no blue. .
. I swear I thought he was going to say “no Sammy, no Andrade. ” Despite Shane Swerve Strickland interrupting a bipartisan scissor, fans loudly did a call-and-response to “whose house?!” Thankfully, The Acclaimed completed the scissoring and it was glorious.
Hangman Adam Page def. Rush MJF was booed vociferously by this crowd when he was shown backstage clutching his magic poker chip like it was an emotional support animal. In no particular order, Rush and Fenix might be the best in AEW when it comes to losing matches and still getting over.
Private Party threatened to attacked Hangman Adam Page, but then Jon Moxley confronted Page as they awkwardly stood on the side for no reason. Luchasaurus def. Fuego Del Sol Jungle Boy has improved on the mic by leaps and bounds in a matter of months.
Luchasaurus will face Jungle Boy next week in Toronto, Canada, and despite the fact that Christian might be the best heel in AEW going, Christian (and Luchasaurus) will be cheered wildly in Canada. Chris Jericho and vs. Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara def.
Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia The fact that Andrade was sent home and Sammy Guevara gets to compete in this main event will be more fuel for Guevara’s growing army of detractors. This match began at 7 pm PST, but this was an extended broadcast with 15 additional minutes. At one point, there was a moment of truth where Chris Jericho and Daniel Garcia came face-to-face, and they did indeed exchange hockey punches.
Many felt Garcia was going to double-cross Bryan Danielson, but that did not seem to be the case. Chris Jericho cheated to win yet again as part of a Ring of Dishonor storyline. Follow me on Twitter or LinkedIn .
