AI steps in to ensure seamless connectivity for Ayodhya Ram temple inauguration

The Pran Pratishta ceremony of Shri Ram Lala is scheduled for January 22 at the newly constructed Ram temple in Ayodhya. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is using AI and ML to ensure seamless connectivity for the millions expected to attend. All is set for the Pran Pratishta ceremony of Shri Ram Lala scheduled to be held on January 22 at the newly constructed Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The highly anticipated inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya will see a unique collaboration between technology and tradition. Officials told Economic Times that the Department of Telecommunications ( DoT ) is leveraging the power of artificial intelligence ( AI ) and machine learning (ML) to guarantee a seamless connectivity experience for the millions expected to attend. Predictive analysis, fueled by data on expected visitor numbers, is guiding the deployment of mobile infrastructure.

Around 90-91 mobile towers, including temporary “cell on wheels,” will be strategically placed, with the technology mix (2G, 4G, or 5G) tailored to specific locations and needs. AI and ML are further enabling dynamic adjustments based on real-time crowd movement, ensuring a consistent signal strength throughout the event. Some 12,000 people are expected to be in the inner periphery of the temple–where the ceremony will take place–and multi-fold outside it.

To ensure there is no drop in network connectivity for the visitors, telecom operators are making arrangements to support nearly twice the number. Considering the diverse demographic makeup of attendees, a strategic mix of 2G, 4G, and 5G towers is being deployed. This ensures accessibility for everyone, from tech-savvy millennials to rural pilgrims.

Since the towers are mobile, their positions will be changed according to the movement of the crowd. A war room for total control To oversee this technological orchestration, the DoT has reportedly established a dedicated “war room” in Ayodhya. It serves as the nerve center, tracking all telecom activity and facilitating close collaboration with telecom operators, who have been participating in daily simulations for weeks.

Beyond connectivity, the DoT is also prioritizing security. Crowd management insights gleaned from network data will assist law enforcement agencies in maintaining order and implementing preventive measures. Additionally, proactive cybersecurity measures are in place to protect the crucial telecom infrastructure from potential cyber-attacks.

“We know that network security has to be paramount as the telecom infrastructure may be vulnerable to cyber-attacks,” said the official. “Even routinely, the networks have been witnessing attacks and the temple inauguration is a big-ticket event, but we are prepared,” an official told the publication.
