Android Auto users can soon take Microsoft Teams’ calls from within their cars

Microsoft is set to roll out Teams for Android Auto users. The tech major has updated the Microsoft 365 roadmap to confirm the arrival of Teams for Google’s in-car infotainment system in February. Google announced the integration of Zoom and Webex with Android Auto at I/O 2023.

Microsoft hasn’t explained the delay in releasing Teams for Android Auto. Microsoft is set to roll out a version of its video calling platform , Teams for Android Auto users. The tech major has updated the Microsoft 365 roadmap to confirm that Teams will arrive for Google’s in-car infotainment system in February.

This update was first announced by Google at I/O 2023 in May. Apart from announcing the rollout window, Microsoft hasn’t shared much details about how Teams will work on Android Auto. Microsoft Teams on Android Auto: What to expect The company only said that users will be able to “join meetings and make calls” from the calendar view .

However, Microsoft didn’t confirm whether it’ll integrate with messages from the service or engage in some of the other Teams-specific features, like file and data collaboration. It is important to note that users shouldn’t tackle complex work tasks while they are driving. At I/O 2023, Google also announced the integration of other video conferencing platforms like Zoom and Webex with Android Auto.

Both apps arrived on Android Auto in September 2023. However, Microsoft hasn’t explained why it took so long to release Teams for Android Auto. Recently, Android Auto got new apps including The Weather Channel and YouTube .

The platform even offers games for passengers. Drivers can also play these games when the car is parked. Titles include a version of Solitaire and a racing game called Beach Buggy Racing 2.

Google says Android Auto currently integrates with 200 million cars. The addition of Microsoft Teams is also expected to come in handy for users. What is Android Automotive Android Automotive is another product from Google that has a similar name to the infotainment system.

Unlike the Android Auto app, this is a full-fledged infotainment operating system. According to a report by Engadget, Google has suggested that the adoption rate of Android Automotive has exploded in the past year. The report claims that car manufacturers have started to phase out internal infotainment systems in favor of Google’s operating system.
