Residents were woken by explosions after a white Mercedes was deliberately set alight outside homes on Dallas Street at 3am on Wednesday. One neighbour told how she was woken by a loud bang just meters from her window.

Amanda Baxter told the Record: “I was woken just after 3am with a loud bang. When I looked outside I could see that something was on fire. “The fire brigade arrived to put out the fire. I’ve no idea who the car belongs to. “It was still sitting burnt out yesterday morning.

” Pictures taken from the scene show the vehicle engulfed in flames as emergency services work to contain the police. A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: “Around 3. 10am on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 we were called to a report of a car fire on Dallas Drive, Kirkcaldy. The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.

Operations Control mobilised one appliance to extinguish the fire and make the area safe.
