Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Cyberpunk 2077 CDPR Cyberpunk 2077 is about to be back in the conversation once more, as its upcoming anime series, Cyberpunk Edgrunner, hits Netflix on September 13, and all early previews of it have looked…kind of incredible, given that it’s Studio Trigger making it. But that’s not all. CDPR says they are ready to start talking about “what’s next for Cyberpunk,” which will be revealed in just a few days: There will be an episode of Night City Wire on September 5 talking about both the anime and the upcoming content for the game itself: There will also be a REDstreams the next day on September 6, talking about all the new stuff coming with the next update.

So, what exactly is being discussed here? What appears to be happening is that there is a new, major patch coming to Cyberpunk 2077, the 1. 6 update, which is supposed to be big and if the last patch was any indication, it may add substantive content ahead of next year’s DLC. Last patch added new weapons, cars, clothes and the ability to purchase multiple apartments in the city.

This one? It’s long been suspected that Cyberpunk will eventually add some new Gigs as free DLC, as all signs have pointed to that happening for the better part of the year. It’s possible this is only about the 1.

6 patch, but I would be surprised if we got no teases about the DLC at this point, given that we’re only a few months off from 2023. Cyberpunk 2077 CDPR My guess is that CDPR probably has it timed so the 1. 6 patch with new content drops around the time that Cyberpunk Edgerunners debuts on September 13, in order to take advantage of any possible resurgent interest in the game as a result of the show.

So that’s probably why these showcases are taking place when they are. As ever, CDPR remains committed to Cyberpunk as a franchise, and I think they’re hoping that Edgerunners will lift the sales of the original game if it’s a must-watch anime, and it seems like it may be, given the previews. Right now we know that just this one big DLC is planned, which represents the scaling back of the original plans for 2077, which allegedly was going to have two DLCs and a multiplayer expansion.

CDPR will then turn to its new Witcher game in full, though I expect Cyberpunk to get some level of continued support, and that the IP will circle back around in the future for another full game. But for now, this new patch is what’s next, and the DLC coming later. Follow me on Twitter , YouTube , Facebook and Instagram .
