Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Dahmer Netflix The saga of DAHMER: Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and its incredibly awkward title continues, as it cements itself as one of Netflix’s most popular shows of the year, and what could prove to even be Netflix’s most popular debut season of any show this year, at its current pace. While no, it’s not matching Stranger Things season 4 numbers, it has amassed 299. 8 million hours the past week, and before that, it was close to 200 million.

So the show is just about to tick over into half a billion hours viewed by Netflix audiences since its debut. That’s…wild. Right now, nothing else is even close.

Dahmer’s numbers actually increased week over week, and its competition’s shrunk. Dahmer’s 300 million hours is 6. 6 times what’s in second place, season 5 of Dynasty with 44.

6 million hours viewed. After that, things really drop off. Fate: The Winx Saga season 2 has 26.

4 million, Cobra Kai season 5 has 20. 8 million. And so on.

It goes to show that just because you see an order in Netflix’s top 10 list, the gaps between those shows may be massive, and in this case, it’s why Dahmer has been planted on top for so long. Dahmer Netflix If this was another show, Dahmer would have announced a greenlit season 2 already, but as a miniseries with an extremely fixed ending, that’s not the case. Rather, it boosts the fortunes of Ryan Murphy, already being paid the big bucks by Netflix, and star Evan Peters, who will no doubt find Netflix trying to submit him for a Best Actor in a Limited Series Emmy (hopefully Niecy Nash as well) Dahmer has been a fountain of endless controversy with many believing Netflix should have never made the show, and if it did, it should be routing some sort of money to the victim’s families.

So far, Netflix has avoided these controversies by simply ignoring them, and from what I can tell, have not announced anything about the show’s handling of its subject matter or plans to donate to any fund. Netflix has dozens and dozens of True Crime shows, both fictionalized and documentaries, so perhaps the idea is that they don’t want to open Pandora’s Box here by admitting some sort of fault in profiting off real-life killings, long a common practice across all of Hollywood. If no one was watching, that would “teach Netflix a lesson” in terms of what it should and should not be adapting. But the opposite is happening, and despite the pushback, millions and millions of subscribers have made it one of their most popular shows of the year. If anything, it’s going to encourage even more projects like this in the future.

When will interest in the show start dropping? Probably soon, but it certainly wasn’t this past week. Follow me on Twitter , YouTube , Facebook and Instagram . Subscribe to my free weekly content round-up newsletter, God Rolls .
