Viki. com This year quite a few Korean dramas spent fictional time in the courtroom—sharing stories that involved both good and bad attorneys, judges and prosecutors. Bad Prosecutor adds one more legal tale to the list.

If the first impression of the drama’s main character, Jin-jung, makes him seem like a bad prosecutor, because he bows to the rich and powerful, that’s an illusion. Jin Jung, played by Do Kyung-soo (D. O.

) is just pretending to be bad to gather evidence. To him, anything he can do to get evidence cannot be considered bad. His colleagues and superiors do think he’s bad, but for other reasons.

He’s bad at following rules. And taking orders. And looking the other way when told to do so.

He considers this “bad” behavior excusable as he’s passionate about pursuing justice—and that occasionally means breaking the rules. He might even have a superhero complex. He shows up at his swearing-in ceremony wearing a tracksuit and carrying a wooden sword.

When asked why he carries a wooden sword, he says it’s because he can’t carry a real one. Because he thinks that most rules don’t apply to him, he’s always in trouble, both with his immediate supervisor, Shin A-ra, played by Lee Se-hee, and his corrupt superiors, Oh Do-hwan, played by Ha-joon, and Lee Jang-won, played by Choi Kwang-il. Writing letters of apology for his on-job behavior is nothing new.

Jin Jung has written so many letters that when told to write another one he just subs the date on an old one and passes it along. Then one day a murder case lands on his desk and something about the criminal’s confession bothers him. He suspects the crime is more complicated than it seems and becomes even more suspicious when told to ignore the evidence.

O. manages to create a believable, impulsively determined k-drama champion. Righting what’s wrong is just a reflex to this character, an urge he can’t deny, whatever happens next.

Perhaps best known as a member of the k-pop band EXO, D. O. has appeared in various TV dramas and movies such as Pure Love , My Annoying Brother , 100 Days My Prince , Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds and Swing Kids .

Lee Se-hee was last seen in the dramas Young Lady and Gentleman and Hospital Playlist 2. Ha-joon appeared in Times and High Class , while Choi played the king in Alchemy of Souls and appeared in Again My Life. The KBS2 drama airs on Viki.
