Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Elite Optimus Prime Robosen Last year, Robosen collaborated with Hasbro to give Transformers fans something that they never knew they wanted, a self-transforming version of the Autobot leader, Optimus Prime. App-powered, it can say phrases recorded by Peter Cullen (who’s been the character’s voice since the original 80’s cartoon), strike poses, and, yes, transform and roll out. What it couldn’t do was save your wallet.

At over $1,000 it was out of the reach of many fans. That’s why today’s announcement of a new, slightly smaller, less-expensive version of the same toy comes as welcome news. What Is It? Elite Optimus Prime with box Robosen Elite Optimus Prime is a 16-inch, self-transforming, app powered version of the Transformers character from the original cartoon.

Just like the original, 19-inch “Flagship” version, Elite Optimus Prime is comprised of 5,000 components, 60 microchips, and 27 servo motors. Freedom is the right of all sentient beings who have the app. Robosen MORE FOR YOU Patrick Byrne Of Overstock Fame Says He Was Involved In Monthslong Effort To Overturn 2020 Election Avoid These Nine Blunders To Communicate More Effectively At Work How To Help ‘Quiet Quitters’ Set Boundaries And Perform At A High Level It comes with 80 phrases recorded by original Transformers voice actor, Peter Cullen and 43 pre-installed voice commands with which you can activate actions.

Even better, you can program additional actions via the app to personalize your experience. So It’s The Same, But Shorter? Yes, but. Elite Optimus Prime is smaller than the Flagship model, which means less weight, which means it can transform and move quicker than the original toy as Sean Tan, Director of Robosen USA, points out in the press release.

“We are excited to bring this lighter, more compact Optimus Prime to fans of the franchise. The re-engineered scale offers a smooth, fast conversion, making the Elite Optimus Prime more agile and speedy, which we’re thrilled to once again bring to life for all our fans and customers, through our collaboration with Hasbro. ” The 16-inch scale also brings Elite Optimus Prime more in scale with fans’ collections.

It’s still quite a bit larger than the 9. 5-inch Masterpiece Optimus Prime (which sets the scale for many collections) but not so large that it seems out of place. Comparing the two, it appears that Robosen has poured the same amount of care and detailing into Elite Optimus Prime that they did with the Flagship version.

From some angles it seems that the shins might be gray instead of silver, but that’s the only visible change I can see between the two. Elite Optimus Prime has the same LEDs and rubber tires of the original. Elite Optimus Prime with weapons Robosen Elite Optimus Prime also comes with the energon axe and weapon accessories of the original as well as a protective case so that you can safely transport it when you go to your friends’ houses to make them jealous.

And, oh yeah, it can transform itself with a single command. Where Can I Get It? The best part for most fans (and parents), however, is the price. While Flagship Optimus Prime costs an eye-watering $1,200, Elite Optimus Prime is almost half that at $699.

That price puts it within reach for more collectors and those looking to win the holidays. Pretty much exactly what meets the eye Robosen I’m thrilled that the success of the original Flagship Optimus Prime has enabled Robosen to make a toy that’s more accessible to the mass-market. Especially with Hasbro’s current financial outlook issues, offering a less expensive but equally capable version of a highly sought after toy is a step in the right direction.

Now fans will just have to sit tight and wait (somewhat) patiently for Robosen to work their same re-engineering magic on Optimus Prime’s self-transforming trailer and drone. You can roll out to the Robosen site and grab Elite Optimus Prime right now. If you’re a Hasbro Pulse member and prefer to keep all your Transformers purchases in one place, just sit tight.

While Hasbro hasn’t announced availability yet, I’m certain that it’ll be up on the site soon. Follow me on Twitter or LinkedIn . Check out my website .
