Got it! Jul 1, 2022, 08:09am EDT | Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Jedi: Fallen Order EA There’s nothing people love more than ganging up to dunk on someone for a bad tweet. And when the tweeter in question is Electronic Arts, notorious video game publisher? Even better. That’s what unfolded yesterday as EA’s social media team attempted to get in on a popular meme format, “They’re a 10, but [insert something bad].

” Like, “They’re a 10, but they like Nickelback. ” Something like that. I don’t know where it started and it’s not even that funny, but it’s spread like wildfire to the point where brands can’t resist joining in.

EA, however, went down the wrong path with this one: Almost immediately, the tweet went viral in a very bad way, as EA was apparently trying to dunk on single player games, which makes little sense for a number of reasons. While yes, EA is reliant on multiplayer hits these days from Apex Legends to FIFA to Madden, this is a company who has brought us both the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series, and recently released Jedi: Fallen Order, where a sequel is literally being made as we speak. All excellent single player games.

And their multiplayer track record is certainly far from spotless, from the last two Battlefront games, to Battlefield 2042, to Anthem, the abandoned BioWare co-op multiplayer shooter which actually started trending yesterday after this tweet. The tweet brought public and forceful condemnation from many industry figures, and even from within EA itself. The best response is probably from Respawn’s Vince Zampella, Respawn being responsible for both multiplayer hit Apex and the two single player Fallen Order games.

Here’s Bungie’s social media manager: The biggest ratio award goes to famed gaming YouTuber Jacksepticeye with a simple dunk: I too got my shot in , saying that EA was unfamiliar with the concept of 10s. I just thought it was a good burn, and I’ll be the first to admit I do like a lot of EA games from the past, and I’d probably give both Mass Effect 2 and Titanfall 2 10/10 scores.

I’m also a fan of Apex, Jedi: Fallen Order and I’m eager to play (the also single player) Dragon Age Dreadwolf. But whatever, I wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream and ratio EA. I have no idea how this tweet happened.

Usually corporate accounts will have to have some sort of approval process for tweets to avoid situations like this, it’s not just like, one person tweeting whatever comes into their head. So multiple people likely greenlit this before it went live. The end result was the EA admitted they deserved the “L” and I will say I’m somewhat impressed they left the tweet up instead of deleting it as a monument to their meme failure.

Anyway, thanks EA, that was fun. Really brought everyone together for a minute there. Follow me on Twitter , YouTube , Facebook and Instagram .
