Got it! Sep 19, 2022, 04:57pm EDT | Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Like other ‘Overwatch 2’ heroes, Sombra is getting a new look in the sequel. Blizzard Entertainment Overwatch 2 is just a couple of weeks away and while there are a lot ( a lot ) of changes in store, I couldn’t help but think about a few other features I’d like to see in the game. So, without further adieu, here are five other changes it would be great to have in Overwatch 2 : Always-On Ally Health Indicators The Overwatch 2 UI has had a massive overhaul.

I’m mostly on board with the updates, though the new scoreboard didn’t work for me at all in the beta. I think there’s one other HUD update that would drastically improve quality of life, especially for supports. There should be a persistent onscreen indicator of teammates’ health as well as their Ultimate charge.

Sure, you can see their Ult charge by opening the scoreboard, and you can see when teammates are at critical health if they’re somewhere in front of you. But knowing the health status of all teammates at all times, as well as whether they have status effects applied to them like sleep, hack or freeze, would be enormously helpful. Overwatch League viewers can instantly see every player’s health.

Players should be able to see all . . .

[+] their allies’ health levels in-game too. Blizzard Entertainment MORE FOR YOU ‘Demon Slayer’ Season 2 Finally Has An Actual 2021 Release Date Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Not A Sure Thing, Says Director ‘Genshin Impact’ Still Refuses To Increase Anniversary Rewards, Despite Fan Outcry We’ve seen a similar UI in the Overwatch League for years, so it’s in the code base. I don’t think having this information always on screen, possibly in the top left, would make the HUD too busy or hide too much of the action.

If anything, let players turn off this part of the HUD in the options if they want. I wager it’d be extremely useful for supports, though. A More Customizable HUD Building on that last point, players should have more control over the in-game HUD.

Sure, you can change the crosshairs and ally and enemy team colors, but the text size in the new HUD can be difficult to read at times. I never had that issue in Overwatch . Allowing players to bump up the text and icon size, and even move certain elements around, would be very useful.

Extra Accessibility Settings While we’ve seen Overwatch 2 make some strides forward on the accessibility front ( including with the ping system ), there’s always room for improvement. Thankfully, I understand that’s something Team 4 has devoted resources to, and hopefully we’ll start to see more fruits of those labors soon. I’d love to see a enemy directional indicator akin to Fortnite .

As great as Overwatch 2 sounds, not everyone will be able to discern where noises are coming from. Having directional indicators for subtitles would be handy too, especially for supports to know the location of an ally who’s saying “I need healing. ” One of the core tenets of Overwatch is inclusivity (admittedly something that gating heroes behind a Battle Pass is at odds with).

So, doing more to make the game as easy as possible for players to access is paramount. MORE FROM FORBES Here’s Why New ‘Overwatch 2’ Heroes Are Locked Behind A Battle Pass By Kris Holt Workshop Updates The Overwatch Workshop isn’t a top priority for Team 4 right now, unfortunately. Still, I really hope the team can devote resources to bolster the features available to Workshop creators in the not-too-distant future.

I can’t really see that happening before the launch of PVE next year, however, given how important that is to Overwatch 2 . Competitive Mystery Heroes This is all I truly want from Overwatch 2 . Other than placement matches (and to understand the meta better), I don’t play Competitive modes very often.

It’s Mystery Heroes all the way for me. That’s by far my favorite game mode. I don’t care how absurd the idea of ranked Mystery Heroes may seem to some.

In fact, I’d argue Mystery Heroes is the game mode with the highest skill ceiling. You have to make do with what the RNG gods grant you. Figuring out how to make a bizarre team comp work is part of the fun.

Mystery Heroes is at its best when everyone gives their full effort. If it doesn’t work out in a team fight and you’re sent back to spawn, you’ll have an entirely new group of heroes to work with, while your enemies will have the advantage of more Ult charge. There’s no room for one-tricks here.

You need to have a good level of competency with many heroes to be an effective Mystery Heroes player. One must be willing to embrace the chaos. Let me earn Comp points for playing the mode I love the most.

That’s all I ask for (well, that and improved accessibility features). Follow me on Twitter or LinkedIn . Check out some of my other work here .
