On Twitter , Genshin Impact has posted looks at three new characters, two Dendro, the new plant-based elemental type, and one Electro.

. . ” — Tighnari Whether these characters are 4 or 5 star has not been released yet, nor has their weaponry (though Collei is clearly an archer).

I believe at least Tighnari is likely to be 5 star, which may mean Collei is 4 star, given that the game probably wants one of each. Dori also doesn’t strike me as a 5 star, but who knows. The alleged release date for update 3.

0 is around August 24, 2022, which is when these characters would likely start rolling out. That means we are probably skipping 2. 9, as update 2.

8 is right around the corner, and these teases should indicate a leap straight to 3. 0 after this. I do wonder if the recent re-lockdown of Shanghai could affect development here, given that’s where miHoYo is based, and the first lockdown delayed a patch recently.

These characters have been the subject of some measure of controversy, as many Genshin fans why despite Sumeru being based on South Asia, like Inazuma is based on Japan, that all the characters have very, very light skin tones so far. Despite this pushback on earlier leaks, nothing has been changed with their look in the official release here, so that controversy may continue from here. Looking forward to getting my hands on each of these to see what they’re all about, and I would start expecting some significant trailers and explorations of Sumeru once 2.
