Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Andor Disney Plus Andor is live on Disney Plus today with the first three episodes available to watch, and this being the fourth live action Disney Plus series as more and more continue to roll out of over time. It felt like Andor was one of the most unusual projects planned, picking a character from Rogue One and giving them their own series separate from seemingly all other existing series, but the grounded nature of the “birth of the rebellion” seems to already be winning early fans tired of mass CGI and buried easter eggs and crossovers. Andor is reviewing well so far, now that critic reviews have come in.

Here’s how it stacks up compared to the other Disney Plus series we’ve seen out of the Star Wars universe so far: Clone Wars Season 7 – 100% Star Wars: Visions – 96% The Mandalorian Season 1 – 93% The Mandalorian Season 2 – 93% Andor – 87% The Bad Batch – 86% Obi-Wan Kenobi – 82% The Book of Boba Fett – 66% Andor Rotten Tomatoes So, as you can see I’m including the animated series in there, and those have been generally well-received. But in terms of live action, Andor is second only to both seasons of The Mandalorian, and ahead of the more recent Obi-Wan and Boba Fett shows. It’s a 76% right now, and started at a 69% when I began this article, but I imagine that will change in one direction or the other going forward. Andor is a full-on TV series, not a movie chopped up into episodes, and the show is supposed to run for 12 episodes in season 1 here, with eyes toward a second season that will end once it runs into the events of Rogue One. So, the fate of Andor may already be pre-determined, but I do wonder what lessons may be learned from it if its more grounded approach the Star Wars pays off, less reliant on CG than other shows, a darker tone, etc.

etc. We already know a whole bunch of series that are coming, but Andor’s success, or I suppose theoretical failure, could alter their plans. Given that Rogue One was my favorite of the new Star Wars blockbusters, I’m certainly looking forward to checking this out later today.
