ambassador to the U. K. After visiting the coffin, Biden signed the official book of condolences and told reporters the queen was “ decent, honorable, and all about service ,” and even in private reflected the image she’d portrayed in her 70 years on the throne.

The president joined thousands of mourners who have streamed past the coffin in recent days, including international heads of state and officials like French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau , New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern , Irish President Michael D. Higgins and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. Olena Zelenska , the wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, also visited the coffin on behalf of Ukraine after meeting with Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton at Buckingham Palace.

The queen’s state funeral at Westminster Abbey, which will begin at 11 a.
