Credit: FX / HULU Hey look, it’s the first weekend of August already! My how time flies when you’re having fun. The fun is about to meet a bump in the road, however, at least for my kids: School starts back up this coming Wednesday, despite well over a month of summer remaining. We’re really going to be struggling with getting back to a normal sleep schedule, that’s for sure.

In any case, we’re here to talk about what to stream this weekend, and I have to admit that there’s just not a ton of really great new content this weekend. There are some new shows coming out this month, but only a couple new offerings this weekend and over the past few days. I was going to talk about the mid-season finale of Outlander’s seventh season, but that doesn’t actually come out until next Friday (giving me ample time to finally finish catching up).

Alright, let’s dive right in . . .

. New Shows & Movies Reservation Dogs Season 3 — Hulu One of the funniest, most inventive and emotionally poignant shows on TV begins its third and—tragically—final season this week. The first two episodes of Reservation Dogs Season 3 are out now on Hulu.

If you haven’t watched this yet, dive into Season 1—you won’t regret it. The series, from Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, is about a group of teenage Native Americans in Oklahoma as they navigate friendship, loss, financial woes and more. It’s so funny and real and wonderful.

One of the main characters is named Elora Danan after the baby from Willow. The magical realism is on-point. I wrote a whole piece about the Emmy’s I was so annoyed by this show getting snubbed (which is especially bizarre given that it’s a show created almost entirely by indigenous people).

I’m sad it’s ending, but I’m happy it was ever created to begin with. The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2, Volume 2 I’ve still never watched this show, but it’s quite popular and I’m sure lots of people are excited for the second half of Season 2 to drop on Netflix. I’m still not sure why Netflix is doing this—breaking up shows like Stranger Things, The Witcher and so forth into two halves—but The Lincoln Lawyer continues the peculiar tradition.

(I say release all at once or release weekly, the half-and-half thing is weird). There’s not really much else new to stream this weekend, but there are plenty of ongoing or recently released shows, which brings us to . .

It’s weird that an adaptation of an old PlayStation car-combat game would be better than The Witcher or Halo adaptations, but here we are. Bizarro world.

My colleague Paul Tassi writes of the new show : I cannot believe how good this show is. This is the largest gap between expectations and reality I can remember seeing in some time. What should have been a trash fire is instead a gem, and I’d recommend it to anyone whether you’ve played the game or not.

Dark Winds Season 2 (AMC) Another Native American show, Dark Winds is based on the mysteries of Tony Hillerman and takes place in the American southwest. The books are terrific and Season 1 was a great adaptation. If you like mysteries, buddy cop stories and are at all interested in Navajo mythology and the region, please watch this on AMC.

The Witcher Season 3, Volume 2 (Netflix) I’ve been a very harsh critic of The Witcher’s third season, but it’s one of the biggest shows of the summer and you can catch it on Netflix now. ( My review ). The Dragon Prince Season 5 (Netflix) A wonderful animated fantasy show that you really, really ought to be watching.

MORE FROM FORBES The 10 Best Animated Fantasy TV Shows You Should Stream Right Now By Erik Kain Special Ops: Lioness (Paramount+) The new show from Yellowstone’s Taylor Sheridan is faring better with viewers than critics. I haven’t watched it yet but it looks like a fun military thriller style show.

Full Circle (Max) Timothy Olyphant and Claire Danes in a twisty-turny kidnapping mystery thriller. What’s not to love? Foundation — Season 2 (Apple TV+) I’ve heard so many mixed things about this show. Someday I swear I’ll watch it! I’ve just had so many things to watch lately! Big budget space opera is always fun, though, so I know I’ll get there one day.

Justified: City Primeval (Hulu) I’m always happy to watch anything with Timothy Olyphant and that goes double for Raylan Givens. You can read my review here but I’m enjoying it so far. (And no, it’s not “woke” people).

Hijack (Apple TV) The always-excellent Idris Elba stars in Apple TV’s new thriller Hijack, about a plane taken over by terrorists on a seven-hour flight to London, and the expert negotiator onboard who uses his wits to try to save everyone from disaster. Outlander (Starz) I’m actually in the process of finally catching up on Outlander after taking a long break after the harrowing and altogether too-disturbing Season 5 finale. It’s good to be back but I’m still not on Season 7 just yet! In Theaters TMNT Credit: Paramount I’ve started adding this final ‘In Theaters’ section since I’ve been going to a lot of movies lately and would like to offer up my recommendations and share my reviews.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem — This movie has gotten surprisingly great reviews from both critics and audiences which is great because so many of the TMNT movies have been awful. I loved the old cartoon and video games, though, and this has a cool animation style and looks like a lot of fun. Still debating whether I’ll go to the theater or wait for it to stream.

Meg 2: The Trench — I thought MEG was okay. Kind of like how Jurassic World was an okay sequel to Jurassic Park, MEG felt like an okay spiritual successor to Jaws. The sequel sounds absolutely terrible.

But hey, someone out there is bound to enjoy it! Oppenheimer — I had really complicated, mixed feelings about this film, mostly because it was a complicated movie that weirdly didn’t make me actually feel anything at all. Read my review here . Barbie — Great Gerwig’s Barbie was better than expected but still not as good as it should have been.
