Blizzard Entertainment We’re less than a week into Overwatch 2 being out in the wild and many fans are already speculating about what’s coming to the game in future seasons, brutal launch issues be damned. For months, we’ve known that there will be a new tank hero in Season 2.

On a recent Overwatch League broadcast, game director Aaron Keller let slip a few details about the next hero that will join Overwatch 2. “It’s someone that players have seen before,” Dexerto reports Keller as saying. “And the other thing we’re putting out in Season 2 is a new map.

And I think, the new hero, he’s connected to this map. ” There’s a few things worth noting from that brief soundbite. First, the tank hero is someone who already exists in the lore of Overwatch .

Second, it’s a male character. Third, there will be a new map he has ties to. That should narrow things down quite a bit for the most dedicated Overwatch fans, so get your thinking cap on and start guessing who the new tank is.

That included a look at the new tank hero that’s coming in Season 2 and a breakdown of that character’s abilities.

So, it’d be weird for me to speculate about the identity of that hero here, since I know what’s coming. What I will say is that the new hero has some incredibly fun-looking abilities. It seems like he’ll be a formidable opponent who should be more than up to the task of leading the line as a solo tank.

Season 2 will be the last season for the foreseeable future that will bring both a new hero and a new map to the game. Going forward, Blizzard will alternate between adding maps and heroes. Season 3 will have a new map, Season 4 a fresh hero, Season 5 another map and so on.

If you buy the Season 2 Premium Pass (1,000 Coins or $10), you’ll get the new tank immediately. Otherwise, you’ll need to grind to level 55 of the free track of the Battle Pass to start using the new tank in certain modes, such as Competitive Play.
