Blizzard Entertainment Until now, it had been widely expected that there would be one more Overwatch 2 PVP beta before the sequel launches on October 4. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case, according to Overwatch commercial leader and vice-president Jon Spector.

“Today marks just 2 months until Overwatch 2 ‘s launch! We know players are eager to dive in and have seen questions about the possibility of a third public beta,” Spector wrote on Twitter. “While we will continue testing OW2 daily internally, we’re not planning any additional public beta tests. With all the valuable feedback we received from our alpha and 2 public beta tests, we will be focusing all our efforts on launching the best game possible on October 4.

” I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it stinks that those who missed out on the first two betas will need to wait another two months before getting the chance to check out the game. In addition, it seems no one outside of Blizzard will be able to try out the game’s third new hero after Sojourn and Junker Queen.

A fox-themed support will be available at launch. We won’t be able to check out some of the new features, such as the revamped profile, for a couple more months. We’ll also have no idea how the game runs on Nintendo Switch before launch.

On the flip side, Blizzard seems confident that it has gotten enough data and feedback from players to shape the game into a form that makes sense by October 4, when it will move all Overwatch players to Overwatch 2 . That’s probably a good sign? Team 4 made a bunch of balance changes during the two betas, for instance.

A new ability for Moira that was tested during the second beta won’t make it into the retail build. Some Mercy changes will be reverted too. The news might come as a blow to fans, but there’s at least one more thing Overwatch players have to look forward to in the meantime.
