Razer has advanced its sustainability goals by introducing recycled materials in its new gaming PCs and peripherals. Announced at the CES 2024 tech trade show in Las Vegas, the gaming lifestyle brand company said the recycled materials would appear in a new line of PCs launching in 2024.

The initiative aims to introduce sustainability practices across Razer’s core PC peripherals, initially focusing on mice, keyboards, and headsets, beginning with models sporting the company’s signature black base colorway. Kenneth Ng, Razer’s sustainability lead, said in a statement, “Today’s gamers desire innovation and performance while being conscious of the environmental impact of plastic. By integrating recycled materials into our new products, we are fulfilling our promises to improve the circularity of gaming products and minimize environmental impact.

” This sustainability drive builds on Razer’s experimentation with recycled materials in its recent product releases. Other PC makers like HP have also been using recycled materials in their personal computers too. The Razer DeathAdder V2 X HyperSpeed gaming mouse contains 40% recycled materials, while the Razer Ornata V3 ergonomic clicky gaming keyboard features at least 20% recycled content.

Both products have received the UL 2809 ECOLOGO label, independently verified by UL Solutions, highlighting their eco-friendly design. Razer is also exploring the recyclability of its products to further reduce the environmental impact at the end of their lifecycle. By emphasizing both recycled materials and recyclability, Razer said it is actively reducing the need for virgin materials in product manufacturing, championing circular design principles.

Razer announced that the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro and Razer Basilisk Ultimate have earned an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification from UL Solutions, making them the world’s first consumer electronics products with this distinction. The EPD certification offers consumers transparent information about a product’s environmental footprint, including carbon emissions and resource usage, aiding informed choices at the point of purchase. Since initiating the #GoGreenWithRazer sustainability plan in 2021, the brand has achieved several milestones, such as adopting the Global Reporting Initiatives framework, achieving corporate offices powered entirely by renewable energy three years ahead of schedule, and protesting deep sea mining of minerals.
