He won four times — including his first major title at the Masters Tournament — ascended to No. 1 in the world rankings and set a record for earnings at almost $13. 2 million.
With the PGA Tour’s playoffs beginning this week, Scheffler ended the regular season schedule as just the fourth golfer in history with more than $10 million in tournament winnings, joining Jordan Spieth, Vijay Singh and Tiger Woods. Spieth set the previous mark of $12 million in 2015 while Woods is the only player to eclipse the $10 million milestone on multiple occasions (in 2005, 2007 and 2009). Scheffler pocketed $2.
7 million for his win at the Masters, plus another $2. 1 million for each of his victories at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play event and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He got almost $1.
5 million for winning the WM Phoenix Open, just shy of his haul for a runner-up finish at the U. S. Open.
Scheffler had three second-place finishes during the 2021-22 season, meaning he was top two in almost 1/3 of his 22 starts. On top of his tournament winnings, Scheffler collected a $4 million bonus for finishing atop the season-long Comcast CMCSA Business Tour Top 10 standings. In total, the top 10 finishers in the FedExCup regular season standings share a $20 million bonus.
Scheffler also got an additional $1 million for capturing the season-long Aon Risk Reward Challenge, a unique competition that tabulates the two best scores from every participating event a player competes in.
