Ollie Barder Now that Armored Core VI is finally released, the game’s credits have confirmed that both Shoji Kawamori and Kazutaka Miyatake worked on the game’s thoroughly excellent mecha design. In addition to that, both Takyuki Yanase and Ikuto Yamashita were involved in the game’s production. Yanase also used to be a former staff member at FromSoftware and Yamashita is known for his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion .
He also assisted in the game’s conceptual design. However, the fact that Studio Nue veterans like Kawamori and Miyatake were involved only helps to cement Armored Core VI’s mechanical design as being very much inline with the series as a whole. This is because Kawamori has worked on most of the Armored Core games over the years and even came up with the premise of “armored core” in terms of how the games use the “core” as the central part of the mecha to unify the design.
Miyatake also worked on Armored Core For Answer , designing the Arms Fort Stigro . The mecha design credits for ‘Armored Core VI’. Not to mention that the various enemy MTs look very much like something Yanase would come up with. The only thing here that seems off, is why weren’t these very famous mecha designers mentioned beforehand. Previous games in the Armored Core series made a big deal out of Kawamori’s involvement, so to not mention him before the release of Armored Core VI is a bit strange.
Admittedly, I knew Kawamori was involved in Armored Core VI a good while back, but I was told to hold off revealing that. Considering that we hadn’t had an Armored Core game in a decade, I didn’t want to be the guy that blew the whole thing before it even got released. In any case, I am just happy that the involvement of Kawamori, Miyatake, Yanase and Yamashita is now out in the open.
The mecha designs in Armored Core VI are amazingly done, so I am glad the credits reflect that. Armored Core VI is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. If you are at all curious about the review, then feel free to read my review .
