Or at least the first seven of nine supersized episodes. As more people work their way through, we are seeing more scores come in, and unsurprisingly, Netflix’s treasured original is continuing to perform well. What we’re seeing in the score trends is that Stranger Things season 4 is now actively reviewing better than season 3, almost as good as season 2, though nothing will probably ever catch season 1.

Here’s how the scores are breaking down on Rotten Tomatoes: Stranger Things season 1 – 97% critics, 96% audiences Stranger Things season 2 – 94% critics, 90% audiences Stranger Things season 3 – 89% critics, 86% audiences Stranger Things season 4 – 93% critics, 90% audiences So, that’s a jump of 4% over last season, though admitted all of these scores are solidly high. Critics and fans are praising the show’s use of horror elements this time around, and even though these are 75-90 minute episodes, they are well-paced and never feel bloated. STRANGER THINGS.

The last few shows to top Netflix’s top 10 list are all lower than what we’re seeing here. We’ve had: Stranger Things – 93% The Lincoln Lawyer – 77% Bridgerton season 2- 78% The Ultimatum – 44% Ozark season 4 – 84% Over the past couple months here, and Stranger Things is a pretty strong quality outlier. Not that Netflix hasn’t had high scoring shows.

Series like Heartstopper and Russian Doll have scored 100%s, but they have not gotten close to crowning the top 10 list. Netflix will very much miss Stranger Things when it’s gone, like they are already missing Ozark now. We will see if anything changes, with scores going up or down, when the final two enormous episodes of season 4 debut in July, including the 2.

5 hour season finale. From there, it’s just season 5 left and we’ll see if the Duffer brothers manage to craft a worthy conclusion. So far, they have not missed yet, and this season shows that the time off due to the pandemic has only allowed them to regroup and come back even stronger.
