Megan Lahoun was driving in her white Jeep Wrangler solo along the Eastex Freeway listening to music on the radio on Friday when she noticed -through her rearview mirror -two vehicles that were swerving in and out of traffic at a high speed near the Highway 242 exit.

During the drive, she saw a pickup truck whipping past her and seconds later another car, a Toyota RAV4, racing in front of her. Within seconds, flying debris and what appeared to be part of a car’s engine went straight into Lahoun’s path and struck her front windshield. The metal object, that appeared to be part of a motor and weighed more than 10 pounds, shattered the windshield, knocked down her dashcam camera before it went through the back windshield and landed in the bed of her truck Lahoun, who sustained injuries to her face and upper body, told KHOU News she ‘death-gripped the steering wheel and drove the best I could home.

‘ It brought to mind the 2003 horror movie Final Destination 2, when logs falling off an 18-wheeler smash through the windshields of cars, beheading their drivers and causing a huge, deadly pile-up. My foot was just trembling.

‘ She said the vehicles cut ‘across three lanes of traffic. ‘ Footage of the interior of her car shows shards of glass on Lahoun’s lap and on the floor and seat of her vehicle. ‘It’s in my mouth.

There is a piece in my eye,’ she is heard saying. Lahoun, who was grateful to have survived, called the drivers ‘reckless,’ and said ‘I could have died. ‘ ‘If they had not been racing this wouldn’t have happened,’ she told KHOU.

‘We could’ve avoided it. Everybody could’ve pulled over to the shoulder and avoided it. Lahoun, who shared that she loves fast cars and the thrill of it all also pointed out that the dangers of racing, adding that is it ‘the most moronic thing you can do.

‘ ‘I love driving. I had a Camaro I love to speed,’ she said, in part, ‘Had that piece of debris been six inches to the left ,I don’t think we’d be here. ‘ She wants the drivers to pay for what they did, literally pay the $1,000 it will now cost her in repairs for her Jeep.

She also filed a report with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and hopes that the driver’s will come forward and redeem themselves.
