I’ve seen common complaints about Destiny 2’s Solar Titans being “destroyed” by the changes, which include nerfs to Roaring Flames and sunspots. But, in most content, with a relatively straightforward build, it can be genuinely hard to die as a Titan. I’m not kidding.

Yesterday, I was trying to trigger a wipe in the Duality dungeon on purpose, and I just saw there waiting for the mobs to kill me and they…couldn’t. Too much damage mitigation and healing, all the time, even though I was doing nothing. I had to jump off the edge.

So what’s going on here? What’s this build? Simple, and I’m not even going to use any seasonal mods: Destiny 2 Bungie Loreley Splendor – I mean, duh. This is the no-brainer Solar Titan exotic this season, even after it was nerfed a while back. It instantly produces a sunspot with restoration if you get low health and have your barricade up.

And past that, you can get a sunspot on demand when you cast your own barricade (in PvE, always use the one you can actually shoot over). Sol Invictus Aspect – This generates sunspots on grenade kills, solar melee kills or killing scorched targets for more sunspots, more often, in more places. Ember of Singeing Fragment – This makes your class ability recharge faster when you scorch targets. Your sunspot scorches targets, which will make your sunspot-generating barricade recharge faster. I often just run into groups of enemies and slam down a barricade which will fry them and almost instantly recharge it.

100 Resilience – 40% damage reduction. Insanity. A must-have on all classes now, but on Titan it will also help recharge your barricade even faster.

Destiny 2 Bungie Any Incandescent Weapon – Because killing scorched enemies generates more sunspots, you want a weapon that will be permanently scorching enemies. Calus Mini-Tool and Drang are the current top picks, but it can roll on a lot of solar stuff. That’s really it.

You can go crazy overkill with weapons that also heal you with like Unrelenting or something like Crimson or SUROS, but I don’t see the point. With this build you can see how sunspots really had to taken a nerf before this, as even now they’re still absurdly strong. Maybe more for defense than offense now, but man, what a defense it is.

No, you probably can’t stand around tanking shots infinitely in Master and GM content, but this is easily the strongest defensive Titan build I’ve ever seen in this game. Give it a shot, you won’t regret it. Follow me on Twitter , YouTube , Facebook and Instagram .
