In Pictures via Getty Images Thank goodness, it’s finally Friday! It’s been a long, wet, rainy week in my neck of the woods, and I’ve managed to stay endlessly busy. But hey, I like being busy.

I like having projects. I enjoy staying active, keeping up with fitness goals, doing all the endless tasks around the house, raising the kids, playing video games, watching show, going on hikes, reading books. Somewhere in there I manage to sleep from time to time.

Yesterday I napped during a raucous thunderstorm, the thunder like rolling gongs in the sky, infiltrating my dreams. That was a peculiar sleep, drifting in and out and back again, roused and lulled all at once by the storm outside. I do love my naps.

And sleep certainly helps with one’s ability to write, or to solve word puzzles—like today’s Wordle. This one was a bit simpler than many have been lately. Go figure.

The Clue: There is only one vowel in this word. When I finished my Wordle and consulted the Wordle Bot, the format was a little bit different.

There’s a new column next to ‘Words Left’ that tells us ‘Info Gained. ’ The better the guess, or at least the more correct letters in correct boxes you get, the higher the percentage in that column, culminating—naturally—in 100% for a correct answer. So my first word, quiet , left me with 166 solutions remaining and only gave me 39% info (which is a weird way to phrase it, but here we are).

Roans was more helpful, narrowing things down to 11 solutions and revealing 70% info (clearly this is not a cumulative score). Crush brought the remains solutions down to just 2, though Wordle Bot still chided me for not picking a better option, and I guessed the correct answer on the next guess with shrug. This time, Wordle Bot was feeling extra smug and jumped at the chance to gloat by offering to compare our solutions.

The AI got it in just three guesses, though I was surprised to see it go with slate instead of crane today. Curiouser and curiouser. Wordle Bot’s solution Credit: Erik Kain Have a great Friday and an excellent weekend.
