Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Today ‘Virgin River’ pulled off a Top 10 feat never before accomplished by any other Netflix show. Netflix A number of Netflix NFLX shows have spent several consecutive days leading the Top 10 charts. But there seems to be a unique distinction that separates popular shows from really popular shows: the ability to reclaim the #1 spot after you’ve already lost it.

And if that’s the case, then Virgin River proved its prowess today. After losing the first-place position to Keep Breathing for four days, Virgin River is back in the #1 spot. Keep Breathing moved down to second place, while Stranger Things captured the third-place position for the seventh straight day.

Here’s how today’s Top 10 list for shows shook out: Netflix’s Top 10 Shows: August 4, 2022 Virgin River Keep Breathing Stranger Things Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99 Uncoupled Extraordinary Attorney Woo Alone The Most Hated Man on the Internet Car Masters: Rust to Riches All American: Homecoming During 2020, the first year the Top 10 existed, it was pretty rare for a show to lose the #1 spot and then win it back—in fact, it only happened twice. The only shows that were able to pull it off are now recognized as Netflix’s most coveted programs: Outer Banks and The Queen’s Gambit . The only programs to step in and out and back into the top spot were Bridgerton (a show that actually did it three times), Who Killed Sara, Manifest , and—wouldn’t you know it— Virgin River . That means in the first two years of the Top 10 rankings, only six shows were able to catapult themselves back to the top. and Virgin River became the first show to do it with two different seasons.

The most prominent show to pull off this feat in 2022 has been Stranger Things , which has now spent 47 non-consecutive days in first place. During the show’s current 74-day run on the Top 10, Stranger Things has managed to lose and then recapture the top spot two different times. Stranger Things seems to be no match for Virgin River , however, as the show has now joined that elite company to become one of the few shows to reclaim the top spot.

And that should be no surprise given the show’s history, as Virgin River has now spent a total of 92 days on the Top 10 charts. Season 2 was the most successful in late 2020 and early 2021 with 40 appearances, while Season 3 wasn’t far behind with 38 showings. Now Season 4 is looking to top them both.

So far, Virgin River has spent ten of its 14 days in the #1 position. Between Seasons 2-4, that brings the show’s first-place total to 34 days. That means the show has spent nearly 37% of its time on the Top 10 in first place—that’s pretty incredible.

So yeah, it’s safe to say that Virgin River is in elite company. Not only has it spent lots of time on the Top 10 charts, but today proves that the show is never down for the count. I think you can expect this kind of longevity from each and every season of Virgin River .
