Content creators and vloggers can rejoice as HONOR 70 has been introduced to the market as part of the N-series with industry-first technological additions.
The HONOR 70 is a smartphone that caters to users who demand beautiful craftsmanship, premium looks, and a great primary camera experience. It sports an industry-first 1/1.49-inch IMX800 54MP sensor as well as innovative vlog capabilities with the first Solo Cut Vlog Mode, which highlights one subject over others in a group video.
With a high-res display, super-fast 5G connectivity, powerful processing and plenty of storage space to boot as additional highlights, the extravagant HONOR 70 smartphone leaves a good impression.
Here’s our analysis of this beautiful ‘mid-range’ smartphone after using it for a week.
BUILD AND DESIGN
The HONOR 70 is built around a thin and light chassis with glass on both sides and a “super dual curved screen,” which means that the curve is present on the front and the back, making the edge look and feel extra thin. At just 7.9mm thin, it’s pretty slick too.
This type of design used to be super-expensive to produce, and it’s nice to see it coming into this perceivable mid-rangers considering the price in the given competition.
Given the price constraints for HONOR to give flagship qualities and yet keep the smartphone in the $500-600 range, water-resistance is something that had to give away. The IP certification can be a costly affair.
IMPRESSIVE DISPLAY
The front of the HONOR 70 5G is made up of a 6.67 inch Full HD+ OLED curved screen (1080 x 2400) with 120Hz refresh rate that brings to life websites, photos and movies in lifelike detail and vivid colours. The display looks great and has all kinds of tuning options in the settings. One can set the color and temperature mode from the default ‘vivid’ mode to ‘natural’ or others.
The screen is visible even in daylight without any automatic switches. A maximum of 784 NITs was achieved in manual setting while it can automatically go up to 1500, temporarily as it may be.
TRIPLE-LENS CAMERA
The HONOR 70 comes with a triple setup, featuring a super sensing main 54MP camera (f/1.9 aperture) with the Sony sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide (122°) and a macro lens (f/2.2), to deliver exceptional image quality, low-light performance and enhanced light sensitivity for a better multimedia experience. While the wide-angle lens can rival even the iPhone 13, although lacking in consistency, the macro lens can pick up as close to 2.5 cms where many can go low only up to 4cm. There’s also a 32MP camera at the front for selfies and video chats.
VLOG VIDEOS IN VOGUE
Thanks to its Person Autofocus Tracking Technology, the Solo Cut Mode of HONOR 70 produces portrait vlogs that puts the spotlight on a specific person in group video. If you film a movie in landscape mode, you can select one person to be tracked. The phone will generate a separate vertical video for that subject, which you can post immediately as a story on TikTok, Instagram, etc!
POWER-PACKED PERFORMANCE
Equipped with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G and the 5G 6nm SoC, the HONOR 70 delivers exceptional performance and enhanced power designed for superior communication, gaming, and more. Back that up with 8GB RAM, and you know everything happens fast and smooth.
The HONOR 70 features 128GB of internal memory for all your music, videos, photos and more. All this is powered with a 4,800mAh battery that’s compatible with 66W fast charging, getting back up to 60% in only 20 minutes. There’s an under-screen fingerprint reader.
VERDICT
With the Solo View mode, keeping track of your celebrity in videos or recording a gathering with the office boss has become easier with the HONOR 70. With camera hardware rivalling close to the OnePlus 10 and Samsung S22 Ultra, the HONOR 70 discharges its duties to the brand with considerable honour.
The HONOR 70 is available in Crystal Silver, Midnight Black, Emerald Green, and Icelandic Frost colours.
