The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of bike theft and theft of an e-scooter at a hearing at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 17. Smith also pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop, two counts of theft, three counts of fraud and handling stolen goods and one count of criminal damage between July 2022 and January 2023. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison at the hearing.
As well as the prison sentence he was also hit with a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). This prohibits him from carrying out certain activities. He was also banned from touching any motor vehicle without permission from the owner and ‘being in possession of any payment card without consent of the owner’. PC Laura O’Flynn, Cambridgeshire Police , said: “Cycle theft continues to be a priority for neighbourhood officers in the city. We are working closely with partners across the city to educate cycle owners, improve infrastructure as well as identifying prolific criminals like Smith.
