DC Mom On Bike Harassed By Anti-Semite Driver After She Politiely Asked Him to Move Out of the Bike Lane

The bigots are really letting their freak flags fly and showing their true colors for all to see. Yesterday, in DC, a Jewish woman experienced one of these monsters for herself. She thought she was taking her child out for a fun bike ride, but anti-semitism is apparently around every corner lately.

She dared ask a man to take his CAR out of a BIKE lane. This is a very reasonable request for safety reasons. Not only did he refuse, but he asked her if she was Jewish.

Bravely, she replied she was. In this day and time, she knew the possible implications of answering that question. Once this person found out she was indeed Jewish, he began to mock her and called her trash.

Yesterday in the bike lane: Are you a Jew? You people are the devil This went on for a long time and I got flustered – when I said “I don’t want to go into the contraflow lane” I meant “This is a contraflow lane, so going around you would mean pulling into oncoming traffic which is not safe. ” He wanted to be famous so make sure you watch the video. I’m in DC with my older three kids and intentionally did not remind my boys to wear their yarmulkes.

This is the United States of America and people are too scared to proudly proclaim who they are. This is unacceptable and we wouldn’t tolerate this if it was happening to any other group of people. I’m so sorry you were subjected to this hatred – especially in front of your children.

I hope you will report this to the police as a hate crime and that they will take action. “Your life is not my concern” so I’m just gonna block the bike lane? Not sure how you combat this level of ignorance. The antisemitism is the horrifying icing on the cake.

What I’m trying is to ride my bike in the bike lane to pick up my kids. He is fully blocking the bike lane, so I’m asking him to move out of the way. I started recording when he pulled his car forward and starting cursing at me.

(contd) You could politely wait for him to leave if you refuse to go around his car as the other biker did. It’s irresponsible to instigate someone when you have a kid with you. The bike lanes are a nuisance to most, but don’t respond to a stranger in a condescending tone.

Or, the man could follow the law and not block the bike lane. What a concept. I did, in fact, wait for him to leave.

And with your small child! You definitely should post his plate # and any other info, as well as report to police. This was hate speech and a dangerous situation. This is absolutely unacceptable.
