For the 2022-23 NBA season, the Mavs Foundation is allocating more than $1 million to help organizations serving local children, women and families in need.

“We are excited to be able to continue our investment of $1 million back into the community,” President of the Mavs Foundation Katie Edwards said in a release. “Each year brings new and growing needs from across North Texas. We strive to spread our commitment across a diverse range of programs in order to respond to our changing world and support families who need it most during this time.

” The money will be distributed as grants for special projects and emergency aid. It will support projects from building basketball courts and reading and learning centers to job training and teen mentorship, domestic violence support and continued assistance for disaster and relief efforts. 2022-23 Grant Recipients After8toEducate : Funds will support Drop-In Center, which provides access to laundry facilities, showers, personal hygiene and clothing items, meals, and a youth-friendly food pantry.

Brother Bill’s Helping Hand : Funding will support the first year of operations at two sites where BBHH will bring their grocery store model with wraparound support. Dallas Bethlehem Center Inc. : Funds from the Mavs Foundation will meet the increased demand for the DBC’s DBC 2022 Christmas Angel program and serve 125 children through a gift that includes a coat, socks, underwear, and a toy from their wish list.

Dallas Social Venture Partners : Funding will support addressing racial disparity in disenfranchised minority females via training and implementing the HER (Habilitation Empowerment Recovery) Program. DME Exchange of Dallas Inc.

: DME Exchange of Dallas collects gently used durable medical equipment (DME) such as wheelchairs, shower chairs and home hospital beds, refurbishes and sanitizes the equipment, then distribute it free of charge to Dallas County residents. Funding will be used for the repair and sanitization of equipment. Dwell with Dignity : Dwell with Dignity seeks to end family homelessness by providing families with a transformative, fully furnished home interior.

Funds will go toward installation materials to execute community space transformations. Families to Freedom Inc. : Funds to support the “Ride to Safety” program that transports victims of domestic abuse to safety in emergency shelters across North Texas, or directly to family or friends’ homes.

HopeKids : Funding would support our Holiday programming, such as Friendsgiving Thanksgiving Meal, Annual Christmas Events, and Toy Market Event to provide hope during what could potentially be a difficult time. House of Shine Inc. : Funding will support adding a new programmatic element that will give youth a platform to pitch their community-based solutions to a panel of leaders for scholarship funds.

Jonathan’s Place : Funds will support children’s basic needs – food, shelter, clothing and mental health counseling with specialized services to help them cope with the multiple traumas they have experienced. Lighthouse for the Blind Inc. : Funding from the Mavs Foundation will purchase 1,071 BRAILED pill boxes and 125 talking watches for legally blind youth and adults.

Lone Star Justice Alliance : Funds will be used to support the ConnectU2Jobs (CU2J) project, a collective impact, earn-to-learn workforce solution that provides access to economic mobility for justice-involved emerging adults and youth Meals on Wheels Inc. of Tarrant County : The Silver Santa Giving Tree provides gifts to Meals On Wheels clients. Funding from the Mavs Foundation will be used to ensure all clients’ wishes, like bed sheets, lift chairs and scooters, all of which can improve the client’s quality of life, are fulfilled.

Mission Metroplex : The Mavs Foundation will refurbish the existing basketball court at their facility in Arlington, which will support their efforts to provide an afterschool/tutoring program, holiday assistance and much more. Northside Inter-Community Agency Inc. : NICA’s Circle of Winners students walk to area elementary schools to mentor 95-125 at-risk elementary students selected by the principals.

This paid volunteer work allows the 28 students in the program to save money for college or trade school tuition. One Man’s Treasure : One Man’s Treasure provides a personalized “fresh start” clothing wardrobe which includes clothing for daily living but is also appropriate for job interviews and necessary to accept an employment opportunity. Funding will go toward the purchase and distribution of clothing to 2,800 clients.

Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas : Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas creates healthier communities by providing comprehensive reproductive and related healthcare services. Funding will be used to subsidize the cost of healthcare services for 90 low-income and under- or uninsured individuals. Rainbow Days Inc.

: Funding to help support Dallas-area children, ages 4-13, who are experiencing homelessness, allowing them to receive support through weekly Curriculum-Based Support Groups (CBSGs®). Retina Foundation of the Southwest : Funds will support the enrollment of 68 children aged 3-7 years to participate in a novel approach to occlusion therapy If the therapy is proven effective, it should benefit many of the 3% of children affected by amblyopia in the U. S.

S M Wright Foundation : Funds will support Dallas Christmas in the Park and purchase bikes for children in Dallas for the massive Bike Land Pavilion at Fair Park. Taste Project : Funds to support the Taste Community Restaurant in Fort Worth that uses the pay-what-you-can model and focuses on building community and equitable access to healthy food. Texas Supremacy of Music & Arts Conservatory : TSMAC provides students with an opportunity to express themselves through show-style marching band, dance, twirl, and cheer.

The Mavs Foundation grant funds will be used towards student uniforms, transportation, and event security. The Family Place : Funding will support the Faith & Liberty’s Place program of The Family Place and the Teen Visitation Room, allowing teens to visit with their noncustodial parent safely and positively in a dedicated space. The TeamConnor Childhood Cancer Foundation : KIDZBINZ provides essential components of quality pediatric health care by supporting the child’s psychological and emotional needs while easing their feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Funds will help support them in distributing 120 KidzBinz in 2023. Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation : Funding to support a Learning Lab Production Studio with high-tech software and equipment for scholars to create content that can educate their peers about college access through social media. Volunteers of America Texas : Mavs Foundation funding will transform a living area into a computer room to aid reintegration efforts for Mothers and Infants Nurturing Together (MINT) – a program for pregnant federal inmates who have just given birth.

Women Called Moses Coalition and Outreach Inc. : Women Called Moses was created to be an underground railroad for survivors of domestic violence. Funding will support 1000 SAFE NIGHTS programs providing emergency shelter to women and children fleeing domestic violence.

Emergency Relief Fund : Disaster Relief and other emergency needs The Mavs Foundation has provided more than $9 million in grant funding to nonprofit organizations in North Texas for 26 years. It has also built 54 safe learn and play spaces, including 31 basketball courts and 23 reading and learning centers designed to encourage healthy living and provide a safe place for children and residents.
