The 25-year-old from Adelaide was reported missing on Sunday afternoon from the area around Durham, in Queensland ‘s southwest corner. Queensland Police confirmed the young man’s body had been found at about 5pm on Tuesday about 12km from the car.
He had travelling in a convoy with a female friend, 39, when their cars became bogged on Woomanooka Road earlier that day. The pair decided to walk along the road and find help but became separated when she walked back to the cars. A passing motorist spotted the woman ‘and raised the alarm about the missing man’ according to police.
Queensland Police have confirmed the body of a young man, 25, has been found after he went missing on Sunday from the area around Durham in Queensland’s southwest corner (pictured) An exhaustive land and air search was launched after he was reported missing on Sunday afternoon, concluding with the explorer being ‘located deceased’ In a statement released on Wednesday, Senior Constable Mark Baker said the search has ‘sadly resulted in locating the man deceased’. ‘Police have been in contact with the man’s family, and our thoughts are with them at this time,’ Mr Baker wrote. A search involving police, the State Emergency Service and local mustering helicopters was launched on Monday.
Both the missing man and the search party had to contend with sweltering conditions with maximum temperatures reaching about 40 degrees during the time he was missing. ‘It has been a very hot weekend in this area, with temperatures believed to be around 40 degrees on Sunday,’ Mr Baker said on Tuesday.
