Prince Harry may be getting another chance to air his grievances about being “kept in the dark” about Queen Elizabeth II’s failing health on the day she died and about how his brother, Prince William, apparently prevented him from joining him and other royal relatives on a flight to Balmoral Castle to pay their last respects. This opportunity comes in a new book, “Endgame,” by his biographer Omid Scobie, a portion of which was excerpted on Wednesday. The excerpt amplifies claims Harry already made in his memoir “Spare,” which are that his estranged brother refused to respond to his messages about catching a ride to Scotland on Sept.

8, 2022, so that he could see his grandmother before she died. According to Scobie’s excerpt, Harry tried to reach William at least twice via text message. “William ignored him,” a family source told Scobie.

“He clearly didn’t want to see his brother. ” The book suggests that William’s actions led to Harry finding out his beloved grandmother died hours after other royal family members and after the news of her death had been publicly announced to the world. The excerpt, coming ahead of the book’s Nov.

28 publication, is sure to further inflame tensions between Harry and his family and cause more damage to his relationship with his older brother, the heir to the throne. On one hand, Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have after apparently realizing that the British and American public had become tired of hearing them “whinge,” as the English say. Nonetheless, the California-based Duke and Duchess of Sussex still have their proxies putting forth the idea that they were badly mistreated by the monarchy and that only their star power could have helped an antiquated institution stay relevant in the 21st century.

One of those alleged proxies is Scobie, who is described by the U. K. media as the Sussexes’ friendly biographer and their “mouthpiece.

” On X Thursday, Scobie that he is Harry and Meghan’s “pal” or that his book is “Harry and Meghan’s book. ” He has said his book promises an “explosive” and “penetrative investigation into the current state of the British monarchy. ” Scobie also insisted on X that the Sussexes had nothing to do with the book.

However, Meghan was forced to reveal in her U. K. court case that she had cooperated with Scobie and his co-author Carolyn Durand on “Finding Freedom,” a sympathetic book on Harry and Meghan’s departure from royal life in 2020.

The “Endgame” excerpt in People comes as palace insiders suggested that Harry and Meghan leaked news that they were trying to mend relations with King Charles III by making a friendly phone call to him to wish him a happy 75th birthday earlier this week. Royal insiders also are now fuming about claims made in Scobie’s new book, with one lamenting hat it appears that “nothing is off limits” and that William and Kate appear to be “this author’s No. 1 target.

” The insider said: “It only takes a few months for the knives to come out again and the wounds to be opened up. ” In the excerpt published in People, Scobie focuses on September 2022 when Harry and Meghan were visiting the U. K.

for a series of engagements. But Scobie said the couple and their team had “to operate in the dark” after Harry received a phone call from his father that his 96-year-old grandmother had suddenly fallen into a grave condition and that the family were gathering in Scotland. Harry learned that William had already secured a Royal Air Force jet flight to Scotland with his uncles, Andrew and Edward, and Edward’s wife Sophie, but he couldn’t get in touch with anyone about joining the flight, Scobie said.

“It was upsetting to witness,” a source close to the Sussexes told Scobie. “(Harry) was completely by himself on this. ” Scobie also rehashes Harry’s description of his dismay when his father asked him to not bring Meghan with him to Balmoral, as Meghan herself “could sense she wasn’t wanted.

” Scobie said Harry had to rush to make his own arrangements to fly to Scotland via a private plane, as rumors grew that the queen had already died. It turned out that William’s Royal Air Force flight didn’t get him, Andrew, Edward and Sophie to Balmoral in time to see the queen. When they landed at 3:50 p.

m. , they discovered that the queen had died at 3:10 p. m.

But that news wasn’t made public for several more hours, and Harry still had no idea that his grandmother had died when his own flight finally took off at 5:35 p. m. , Scobie wrote.

As his phone service cut out after takeoff, he also remained in the dark for the duration of his 70-minute flight. On the ground, the prime minister was informed of the queen’s death, and so were members of Harry and Meghan’s team, Scobie reports. The team begged royal press secretaries to wait to announce the news of her death until Harry could be informed.

Buckingham Palace later claimed that Charles tried to call Harry, though Scobie said sources told him there “was never any proof of this. ” Related Articles By 6:35 p. m.

Buckingham Palace decided it couldn’t wait any longer to let the world know the queen was dead. When Harry’s plane finally touched tarmac 20 minutes later, he received a text from Meghan urging him to call ASAP, followed by a breaking news alert via the BBC News app with the announcement of the Queen’s death. “Harry was crushed,” a friend told Scobie.

“His relationship with the queen was everything to him. She would have wanted him to know before it went out to the world. They could have waited just a little longer, it would have been nothing in the grand scheme of things, but no one respected that at all.

” In another portion of “Endgame,” Scobie acknowledges that the once-close relationship between William and Harry has reached an all-time low and may never be repaired, especially after Harry publicized private family moments and criticized William, his wife Catherine and the rest of family in his Netflix docuseries, “Harry and Meghan,” and in “Spare. ” William believes Harry and Meghan blindsided the family, even the queen, with their public complaints and their “oh so California self-importance,” Scobie writes. A source close to William told Scobie: “There’s a huge amount of anger there.

He feels betrayed and sad about the situation. But he also doesn’t agree with the things his brother feels he has done. He feels he has lost Harry and doesn’t want to know this version of him.
