Will Smith jokes about return to social media following Chris Rock Oscars slap controversy

Will is planning his social media comeback after the incident (Picture: Getty) Will Smith is stepping out of the shadows after avoiding the limelight in the wake of slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. The King Richard actor has been laying low since March when he stormed onto the stage at the star-studded event. The 53-year-old struck the comedian across the face after he made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, referring to her as ‘GI Jane.

Since the slap, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air star has remained largely silent on Instagram, penning just two posts. The first appeared just a couple of days after the Academy Awards and was a groveling apology to Chris, as well as his family.

The Hitch performer wrote: ‘I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris.  I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be.

In it, a chimp is seen trying to poke the bum of a large gorilla, only to be patted away repeatedly.

You, I, everybody. We are just humans learning. ’ Another penned: ‘We all make mistakes.

C’mon back bro. ’ ‘We grow through what we go through ❤️,’ a third said. The Instagram ‘comeback’ comes after it was reported Will is ‘back in talks with Netflix’ about resuming a tell-all biopic about his life.
