The poker action gets started this week for a 54th WSOP and seven-week run of 95 gold bracelet events. This year also marks the 20-year anniversary of Chris Moneymaker’s most unlikely bracelet victory in the 2003 WSOP Main Event. Records are set to be broken again, including an estimated turnout of more than 8,800 for the Main Event starting July 3.

“We love to see anyone and everyone that’s a poker player participate in the Main Event and poker’s world championship. ” WSOP Weekend Warrior events with entries from $300 to $1,500 The 2023 WSOP also includes 20 online poker events through WSOP. com , WSOP online poker is available in Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan, but players must be physically in the state of Nevada to enter and participate in World Series of Poker online events.

Mega Satellites Daily mega satellites will be available every day during the WSOP from May 30- July 14. Daily Mega Satellites will award Tournament Buy-In Credit that players can then use to enter WSOP bracelet events, Daily Deep Stacks and all Mega Satellites. Buy-ins range from $135, #240, $580 to $1,100.

Some mega satellites will be paid out in casino chips (cash prizes) for those who prefer to play other WSOP events. 2023 WSOP Satellite Schedule The full schedule also includes mega satellites to the Mystery Millions and Gladiators of Poker for as little as $50. Specialty mega satellites are available for poker players wanting to win their seat into bigger events like the $10,000 Main Event, or $25,000-$50,000 High Roller events and $50,000 Poker Players Championship.

In addition, Super High Roller mega satellites will be available for the $100,000 and $250,000 Super High Roller events. The WSOP has transitioned out of the single table satellites at this year’s WSOP to allow more players to win their way into additional events. “The mega satellites are great opportunities for players to qualify for tournaments,” said Jack Effel.

“We’re offering many multi-table opportunities at various price points to allowing more players to win seats. ” Along with mega satellites to attract even more players to the 2023 WSOP Main Event, the World Series of Poker launched Main Event Mania , which took place May 20-21 at 15 different casinos from around the world. Six seats were awarded at Horseshoe Las Vegas and 15 more at Thunder Valley Casino Resort in California plus dozens more at other casinos.

Moneymaker Effect Chris Moneymaker changed the game of poker forever with his 2003 WSOP Main Event win. He’s become poker’s ‘ Everyman’ ambassador , bringing millions of new players into the game. The “Moneymaker effect” was millions of people across the world deciding that they wanted to follow their dreams like Chris Moneymaker and hit it big playing online poker and live tournaments.

Chris Moneymaker parlayed an $86 online satellite into a $2. 5 million top prize in the 2003 WSOP Main Event as he outlasted 839 entrants to become a world champion in poker. “It was so crazy,” Moneymaker said.

“My goal was to just get through the day every single day and try to survive. ” Tens of thousands of poker players have tried their hand in the WSOP since hoping to survive and advance in search of a big “all-in” poker payday. The following year at Binion’s Horseshoe in downtown Las Vegas, 2,576 entries made up the 2004 Main Event, which to this day still has a $10,000 entry fee.

The WSOP moved to the Rio Hotel & Casino off Flamingo Road just West of the Las Vegas Strip in 2005, and the poker boom was in full force with record turnouts for tournaments including 5,619 entries for the 2005 Main Event. The 2006 Main Event drew a record 8,773 entrants, which remains the all-time record but is expected to be broken this year following the 2022 Main Event turnout of 8,663 players. Last year’s WSOP Main Event generated a prize pool of $80,772,475 and paid out 1,300 places including eight millionaire’s at the Final Table with Norway’s Espen Jorstad winning the WSOP Main Event gold bracelet and a whopping $10 million.

Chris Moneymaker worked with the poker player alliance for many years trying to bring online poker back into the U. S. Moneymaker was a longtime ambassador of Poker Stars, and he’s currently representing Americas Cardroom while also working with poker.
