Nia Jax vs. Shayna Baszler was also cancelled as Jax will take on Raquel Rodriguez next week. Tegan Nox vs.

Becky Lynch for the NXT XT Women’s Championship was also advertised, but this also delayed due to Lynch’s shoulder injury. A contract signing between GUNTHER and Tommaso Ciampa for their upcoming clash for the WWE Intercontinental Championship did happen, but WWE moved the IC title match to tonight. Last week’s Raw viewership garnered 1.

This was mostly due to both Finn Balor and Damian Priest not being medically cleared. Rhea Ripley demanded Dominik Mysterio get his North American Championship back tomorrow on WWE NXT (not next week when they go head-to-head against AEW Dynamite for some reason), or Dom should not bother coming home at all.

Carmelo Hayes will help with that. Fans chanted “you f—ked up” after Dominik provoked Jey Uso, and the broadcast had to bleep it out. Adam Pearce, who was dead set on getting his “official” catchphrase over, made an official match between Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso and the Judgment Day for the WWE Tag Team Titles at Fastlane.

I’m guessing Jey takes the pin in that one, possibly because of Kevin Owens. Opening Segment Grade: B+ IMPERIUM Def. Alpha Academy Ludwig Kaiser continues to lay babysitter, which has taken precedent to Chad Gable’s long-term chase for GUNTHER’s Intercontinental Championship.

With WWE heating up Bronson Reed behind Tommaso Ciampa, it’s fair to wonder whether or not Gable will even get another shot. Kaiser won the match with a enzugiri on Otis. Not ideal for Gable, but had Gable taken the pin, I’d be convinced his compelling underdog story was on ice.

IMPERIUM vs. Alpha Academy Grade: B- Bronson Reed Def. Cedric Alexander Bronson Reed squashed Cedric Alexander as WWE continues to get behind him as an Intercontinental Championship contender.

Reed’s Tsunami got a babyface pop from the crowd, which is interesting, because WWE may need to turn Reed babyface if he is going to feud with GUNTHER. Bronson Reed vs. Cedric Alexander Grade: B GUNTHER Vs.

Tommaso Ciampa Contract Signing Tommaso Ciampa cut a good promo, but one where he complained that “guys like him” don’t get opportunities in WWE. By “guys like him,” he meant the undersized, technically sound white guy prototype. Guys like that don’t get handed opportunities because there’s so many of them and they don’t stand out.

Hell, I’m going to be doing a “March Mayonnaise” tournament with 32 of those prototypes, and there were still several “on-the-bubble. ” GUNTHER and Tommaso got so heated, Ciampa demanded he get his title match tonight, and Pearce made it official. GUNTHER vs.

Tommaso Ciampa Contract Signing Grade: B+ Xavier Woods Def. Ivar Kofi Kingston was awesome on commentary, especially when antagonizing Wade Barrett. Xavier Woods won the match, which was bittersweet because fans weren’t treated to Ivar’s moonsault.

Ivar made good by hitting the moonsault on both Kingston and Woods. Xavier Woods vs. Ivar Grade: B Seth Rollins Appears Live Michael Cole named all the nicknames he helped Seth Rollins come up with, but he didn’t bother to name Seth “Freaking” Rollins.

Cole antagonized Rollins by calling him a puppet. There were shades of 2011 Heel Michael Cole. At one point, Cole asked “why the hell are you putting yourself through this,” but he was doing so as a concerned friend.

Seth Rollins pointed out that Michael Cole had missed two shows in 26 years and said both him and Cole were addicted to wrestling. That’s why Rollins is putting his back on the line in a Last Man Standing Match. Parts of this sounded like an AA meeting.

Shinsuke Nakamura laid out Seth Rollins during a pre-taped Nakamura promo on the Titantron. Nakamura counted to seven before Seth Rollins made it to his feet, and the count was cut off. Several steel chair shots later, pre-taped Nakamura counted Rollins out.

Seth Rollins and Michael Cole Segment Grade: A- Tegan Nox Def. Chelsea Green Tegan’s match against Becky Lynch was delayed due to a shoulder injury from Lynch. Natalya evened the odds as Piper Niven tried to distract Tegan as she plays nice for now.

Tegan Nox vs. Chelsea Green Grade: C Drew McIntyre Def. The Miz Drew McIntyre canceled a MizTV appearance in favor of what was trending towards being a heel promo.

McIntyre said he appreciates his fans, but also said he will no longer be a savior. The Miz was great as an angry host who was canceled on last minute. “I don’t shut up, I grow up, and you’re making me want to throw up!” Miz had to face Drew McIntyre in a full suit and it didn’t go nearly as well as that one time he pinned Damian Priest in his underwear.

McIntyre’s slow-burning heel turn feels like Diesel’s heel turn in 1996. McIntyre vs. Miz Grade: B- Cody Rhodes Promo Cody Rhodes said both he and Main Event Jey Uso would be on SmackDown this Friday.

Other than that, this just felt like an excuse to squeeze in a Rhodes promo. His entrance lasted longer. Cody Rhodes Promo Grade: B- GUNTHER Def.

Tommaso Ciampa There were light “let’s go GUNTHER/GUNTHER sucks” chants, but not much heat otherwise. Due to the talent and workrate, this felt like an NXT Takeover main event, but in front of a main roster crowd. Still, after the final commercial break, they ultimately got the crowd into the climactic stages of the match.

GUNTHER retained with yet another new finisher, the sleeper hold. IMPERIUM attacked Ciampa after the win as GUNTHER walked out. This brought out Johnny Gargano, to a tepid pop, who made the save.

GUNTHER just kept it pushing, and Raw went off the air before they had time to deliver the Meet in the Middle. GUNTHER vs. Tommaso Ciampa Grade: B+ Follow me on Twitter or LinkedIn .
