The concert was held in celebration of Schwartz’s 65th birthday and the 10th anniversary of the opening of his musical, ‘Wicked. ‘ (Photo by Jack Vartoogian/Getty Images) Getty Images Led by music director and conductor Steven Reineke, the concert tonight will feature music from some of the most iconic Broadway hits since 2000, including Jagged Little Pill , Hamilton , Wicked and Dear Evan Hansen, among others. Performers will include Hailey Kilgore, Derek Klena , Javier Muñoz and Ali Stroker.
On November 17, Broadway musical stars Sutton Foster and Kelli O’Hara will perform highlights from their illustrious careers, including selections from Anything Goes , The Music Man , Kiss Me Kate and The King and I . The orchestra’s annual Christmas concert, on December 22 and December 23, will feature Broadway baritone Norm Lewis and Essential Voices USA, led by Judith Clurman. On February 9, 2024, the orchestra will celebrate George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” composed a century ago.
Lee Musiker, the orchestra’s pianist, will perform this piece, while Montego Glover will sing some of George and Ira Gershwin’s best-loved songs. A concert on March 15, 2024 will celebrate Motown with a program of classic pop songs from Diana Ross and the Supremes, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, and Martha and the Vandellas. The orchestra’s 41 st birthday gala will take place on April 29, with a concert at Carnegie Hall followed by a dinner dance at Mandarin Oriental New York.

PopsEd allows thousands of New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds to participate in fully customizable residency programs that blend traditional education with pure fun. ” Its Kids in the Balcony and Kids in the Stadium programs have enabled “thousands of children and their parents” to see the orchestra perform at Carnegie Hall and Forest Hills Stadium free of charge.
