As you might expect, the biggest savings on a new mattress align with major holiday weekends, along with notable sale days like Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Amazon Prime Day. So, if you’re thinking about replacing your mattress, November is a great time to shop.

Sales Events Black Friday and Cyber Monday: This November shopping event is probably the most anticipated of the year. Sales usually kick off on the Friday after Thanksgiving and run through the weekend into Cyber Monday, but many brands start offering discounts weeks ahead of time. We’ve rounded up the best early Black Friday Deals that you can shop now.

Amazon Prime Day: Typically in July, Amazon Prime Day has become a major shopping event if you have an Amazon Prime membership. Even mattress brands that don’t sell on Amazon may be offering sale pricing. Similar to the past couple of years, Amazon has also held a second major sale day this October, called the Prime Big Deal Days Event .

Major Holidays “Most mattress brands have their biggest sales around holidays like Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and of course, Black Friday, Christmas and New Year’s,” says Stephen Light, CEO of Nolah . This is when brands are most likely to roll out their best pricing, and you can usually score savings before the holiday or holiday weekend itself. “A lot of promos start well in advance for major holidays,” notes Light.

Not only are there significant discounts on mattresses during these events, but also on a range sleep products. In many cases, brands offer site or store-wide savings, so you can also save on things like bed frames and pillows . Presidents’ Day: This holiday is the third Monday in February, and sales tend to kick off early.

Memorial Day: Just like Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day is always the third Monday in May. Sales usually begin the week before Memorial Day, or even earlier, and run through the entire holiday weekend. Fourth of July: Because the day of the week varies for the 4th of July, this sale often starts earlier and lasts longer.

Labor Day: Labor Day is the first Monday in September, and sales tend to begin at least during the week leading up to holiday, and often before. Christmas and New Year’s: Many brands offer after-Christmas and New Year’s sales in late December and early January. Fortunately, many brands also have a “strong ongoing promotional calendar” according to Eric Hutchinson, the co-founder and co-CEO of Resident Home, which owns the mattress company Nectar .

“If you have identified a brand and product, I would reach out to the company via chat or phone and ask if they have any special promotions,” he advises. “Sometimes a brand will be running a special promotion or bundle offer you can take advantage of. ” Our Favorite Mattresses On Sale Now Helix Helix Midnight Luxe (Queen) Buy From Helix Nectar Nectar Premier Copper (Queen) Buy From Nectar When Should I Replace My Mattress? The lifespan of an individual mattress depends on a few considerations , but you can generally expect a good mattress to last between 7 and 10 years, Light says.

That number may go up or down depending on the type of material you choose, though 10 years really is the general rule of thumb. Light says foam hybrid mattresses are more durable and should have a longer lifespan, somewhere between 9 and 15 years. “ Natural latex and latex hybrid mattresses last the longest,” he says.

“You could sleep on one for up to 20 years, but you’d likely want a replacement before then for sanitary reasons. ” Latex Mattress Deals MOST POPULAR Saatva Saatva Classic Mattress (Queen) Buy From Saatva Awara Awara Natural Hybrid Mattress (Queen) Buy From Awara Be mindful of warranties that promise decades of coverage. “You want a warranty that covers at least the expected lifespan of the mattress,” says Light.

“Coverage beyond that is more for advertising than practicality—the true value is in the structure and terms of the warranty. ” If you read the fine print, warranties are designed to protect against certain issues, such as material failure or workmanship, and don’t protect you when a mattress inevitably becomes old and worn. “They usually don’t cover comfort preferences, normal wear and tear, or damage caused by improper use or handling,” notes Light.

That level of clarification is really important. “When considering extra-long mattress warranties, keep in mind that while a lengthy warranty might seem appealing, understanding the terms and conditions to make an informed decision is key,” says Dr. Peter G.

Polos, sleep medicine specialist and Sleep Number sleep expert. The goal is to be very clear about what a warranty covers—and what it doesn’t—so it may be advisable to chat with customer service before buying. “Doing your due diligence will help you make a decision that works for your needs and expectations,” says Polos.

The truth is that the average mattress simply won’t last much longer than 10 years if they’re being slept on every night, no matter what the warranty says. Materials inevitably degrade, which means comfort and support become compromised. Older mattresses have also had more time to collect dust and allergens—and they’re much harder to clean than your sheets.

Signs You Might Need A New Mattress The best way to determine whether your mattress has met its service life is simple awareness. “If you wake up with soreness and pain day after day, that’s a tell-tale sign that your mattress has given out,” says Light. “You may also see sagging and indentations, showing that your bed can no longer align your spine properly.

” Noticeable signs of wear and tear, sagging, lumps and stains are also indications that a new mattress is probably warranted. Your nose can clue you in as well. Light says if your mattress has an odor or triggers your allergies, it’s likely time for a replacement.

The fact that a new mattress is on your radar, even slightly, is another sign. “This is not an exciting product to shop for,” says Hutchinson, “so if you’re considering a new mattress, it’s probably well past when you should have replaced your current mattress. ” Leesa Leesa Sapira Hybrid Mattress Buy From Leesa What Month Is Best To Buy A Bed? There are major holiday weekends in February, May, July, September and November, so these are great times to save big on a new mattress.

After Christmas can be a good time for savings, too. But look for evergreen sales as well. Many online brands offer sales year round.

Is It Better To Buy A Mattress On Black Friday Or Cyber Monday? You’ll likely end up saving more on an online mattress purchase if you shop on Cyber Monday. But Black Friday deals can still be excellent, and many actually extend into Cyber Monday. How Do I Get The Best Price On A New Mattress? Timing your mattress to a major holiday weekend is usually a good bet.

If you don’t have an immediate need to buy, Light recommends subscribing to emails from the mattress brands that interest you most. “They’ll let you know what’s on sale and when,” he says.
