Kirsty and Matt Foster, from Elgin, rely on the car to do the school run, as well as other errands due to Kirsty’s disability. The couple have also had to fork out the £400 excess on their car insurance, which they’ve said has been a massive blow to the family, just weeks before Christmas.

The painful sensations leave her in agony during the cold weather, meaning without a car, she is trapped in her home. She told the Record she has been having to rely on her family to help out with the couple’s four children while they wait for their car to be fixed.

The rear of the car was smashed to pieces. (Image: (Image: supplied)) Kirsty explained: “On December 5, we came out of our house to take our two-year-old twins to their nursery. “The entire street and all the pavements were like an ice rink and we struggled to get to the car.

We got our twins in and my husband Matt walked around the back of the car then saw the damage. “I couldn’t believe what a mess it was, there was glass everywhere. The whole back window was smashed and the left-hand side near the lights had a massive dent.

” Kirsty was diagnosed with fibromyalgia after having the twins and shortly after her husband had to give up his job to become her full-time carer Kirsty and the twins. (Image: (Image credit: submitted)) She said: “We are a family of six with four kids. I have severe fibromyalgia and need a stick to walk a lot, so my car is my freedom.

“I can’t walk too far especially in the ice and cold as fibromyalgia doesn’t cope well with cold temperatures and this causes me terrible pain. Due to the fact there’s no one who’s taken blame we have to shell out nearly £400 for the insurance excess, which we just do not have being on disability benefits and being so close to Christmas. “Not only that but the insurance won’t give us a courtesy car.

So while the car is being fixed, I am completely reliant on other people to be able to get out. “My husband has managed to cover the back window so we can use it for short journeys while waiting for it to be repaired, but obviously, it’s not waterproof and it’s freezing inside the car. ” It has been a huge blow to the couple.

(Image: (Image credit: supplied)) So far no one has owned up to the accident, and the heartbroken mum is struggling to understand how somebody could be ‘so vile’. Kirsty continued: “We are devastated to think someone can be so horrible to just drive off like that. We had car seats and a pram in the car, easily visible in the boot, so they would have known we were a family.

“I can understand if they slipped on the ice and crashed, it was just an accident. But to just run off like a coward is so vile. “I thought maybe the shock and panic of it may have made them run away and I truly hoped that they would calm down and realise what they need to do but nope, there’s been nothing.

” There are also dents on the side of the vehicle. (Image: (Image: supplied)) “A witness has come forward and said that she is a carer for a client on our street and she drove up at 10. 35 and the car was fine and then left at 11.

05 and it was damaged so we have a window of about half an hour. ” “The police agree that we are looking for a white transit van as there is white paint on the dent and also the height of it indicates it was a van. “I’ve had people coming up to us in the street telling us how awful it is and how sorry they were and people’s kindness has been a comfort.

“We’ve had lots of offers from not just family and friends but strangers as well asking if we need any help.
