The report emphasizes the significance of chipsets in shaping consumer experiences across various smart devices. Chipsets power high-end devices and enable features like AI capabilities and industry-leading features. With the smartphone market maturing in India, consumers are now increasingly knowledgeable about their smart devices that helps them make well-informed purchasing decisions when it comes to smart devices, including smartphones and laptops.
A report has now listed three things with respect to chipsets that Indians look for before purchasing any smart electronic device. As per a report by Counterpoint Research, 76% of smart device users look for performance, 66% take into consideration graphics and gaming capabilities, and 62% look for 5G connectivity while purchasing a smartphone. “The survey revealed that 77% of the country’s smart device users consider chipset capabilities highly important in influencing their device experience,” the market research firm said, highlighting the significance of chipsets across different smart devices such as smartphones, earphones/TWS, smart TVs and laptops.
Why chips are important High-end chipsets now power almost every new smart electronic device that is launched in the market. From Apple’s solid performance to Google Pixel smartphones’ AI capabilities and Samsung’s Galaxy phones’ industry-leading features – all come from what’s at the heart of the device. “These chipsets shape consumer experiences and help OEMs differentiate their offerings at a time when we are transitioning to next-generation 5G networks,” the report added.
It also said that 61% of the respondents were aware of MediaTek’s chipsets across smart devices in the country. MediaTek was the world’s top smartphone chipset brand in Q3 2023 with a 31% market share, according to Counterpoint’s latest Global smartphone AP Shipments. “For any electronic device, we believe that personalised experiences will be the real differentiator for consumers going forward,” said research director Tarun Pathak.
“This means deeper integration of advanced technologies leveraging artificial intelligence for a seamless, reliable and personalised experience with a relentless focus on ultra-fast connectivity,” he added.
