Got it! Jul 14, 2022, 10:20am EDT | Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin The Bear FX While it has debuted with perfect review scores and glowing word of mouth from viewers, how many people have actually watched FX’s The Bear on the channel or Hulu remains unclear. But regardless, it’s now been confirmed that all the positive attention was enough to land The Bear a season 2 renewal, according to Variety . “The Bear has exceeded our wildest creative, critical and commercial expectations,” said FX Entertainment president Eric Schrier.

“We can’t wait to get to work on Season 2. ” The show stars Shameless actor Jeremy Allan White as a famous chef who returns home to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop after his brother died. It’s only eight, 20-30 minute episodes, but it is intense , both in terms of its performances and its filming, including the one-shot, utterly chaotic episode 7.

“We are so grateful to FX, our insanely talented cast, our crew who worked hard, fast and in the dead of winter, not to mention everyone who watched. And we can’t wait to bring you all back to ‘The Bear’ in 2023,”said Christopher Storer and Joanna Calo, the showrunners and producers. So no long wait until 2024 for more, it seems.

Given that 90% of the show is shot in one place, and it’s about 4 total hours per season, it seems like it could stick with a relatively normal schedule, with season 2 arriving in the first half of next year. Rich Forbes Staff The Bestselling Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor Is $90 Off For Prime Day By Lex Goodman Contributor We already got a tease of what season 2 may be like in the season 1 finale ( spoilers follow ). Carmy finds several hundred thousand dollars worth of cash his brother hid away in the store for him, and he immediately gets the idea to open a new restaurant with Sydney. Presumably the cast will all return, but rather than saving a dying restaurant, season 2 seems like it will be about building and opening a brand new one.

“The Bear” is the name of the restaurant, of course. The Bear is a show that’s pretty easy to recommend to almost anyone, and is a light commitment given the number of episodes and their length. It’s perhaps less of a “feel-good” outing than the movie Chef, even though they deal with similar themes, but I do think they share a common attraction in terms of how they deal with food and family.

In any case, it’s great to see FX do the obvious thing here and bring The Bear back for more. I’m not sure how many theoretically planned seasons there are, but so long as they keep being as good as season 1, bring them on. Follow me on Twitter , YouTube , Facebook and Instagram .
