But they stumbled into controversy this week thanks to a store bug, and a poor response to that store bug, that is now being rectified with an apology and a free gift. The issue was that players would go to try to preview an item in the story, only instead, the purchase would automatically complete.
Here’s what that looked like in action: That would have been bad enough, as it was happening to a number of players, but then a customer service response to the issue went viral, as it was extremely dismissive and claimed to come directly from Fall Guys Player Support: “Hi there, Thanks for your reply. Please let me correct something from your response. You have stated that this is a “bugged purchase” and a “known issue”.
Neither of these things is the case. Whether it was intentional or not, this is still the case.
This is not a “known issue” because it is not an issue. Items cannot be bought automatically by the system, they always require input from the player. Again, whether accidental or not, you made this input and purchased the item.
As per our EULA, which you agreed to, all purchases are final and will not be refunded. I apologise for any confusion this may have caused, and hope that I have cleared this up for you. The customer service response was also not acceptable and we will offer a make good for all affected. ” The “make good” offer has now arrived, and it not only includes refunds for everyone affected by the store issue, but everyone is getting a free apology gift, a GRANDIS skin seen below, which is uh, taller than most Fall Guy skins. So, this was definitely a bit of an own goal, but at least it was fixed in short order, and everyone gets something free out of it.
