Wizards Of The Coast, LLC Whether returning to the table after a long absence or drawing inspiration from Eddie Munson’s Hellfire Club antics, it’s a great time to start a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. Luckily, Wizards of the Coast has a pair of releases that might inspire epic adventures for the rest of the summer, the year or even longer.

Journeys Through The Radiant Citadel and Campaign Case: Creatures are both coming out on the same day. Journeys Through The Radiant Citadel contains information on a city in the Ethereal Plane that can serve as a hub for adventurers who don’t wish to contain their stories to just one world. The stories were written by several BIPOC authors including Justice Ramin Arman, Dominique Dickey, Ajit A.

George, Basheer Ghouse, Alastor Guzman, D. Fox Harrell, T. K.

Johnson, Felice Tzehuei Kuan, Surena Marie, Mimi Mondal, Mario Ortegón, Miyuki Jane Pinckard, Pam Punzalan, Erin Roberts, Terry H. Romero, Stephanie Yoon and Ajit George. The stories draw from their cultures and folklore for a wide variety of experiences.

Campaign Case: Creatures is the first release in a line of accessories to help Dungeon Masters run games wherever they go. The cases contain easy to pack items for easier transport to conventions, games stores and other people’s houses. Wizards of the Coast was kind enough to send me copies of both products to review.

What Is The Radiant Citadel? The Radiant Citadel is a burgeoning city build on a giant fossil curled around a skyscraper sized astral crystal. Dozens of cultures were drawn to the city by the crystal and now they live together in a collection of different cultures, philosophies and neighborhoods. The setting is built as a lauching point for the adventures collected in the book.

The opening chapter details the city and some of the main locations. It is an excellent home base for a campaign or as a place to pass through in a larger campaign. It seems very compatible with the upcoming Spelljammer: Adventures In Space campaign due out later this year.

Twenty seven cultures build the city around the Citadel. Fifteen are detailed in the book, with thirteen adventures focusing on one of the cultures. The other twelve are left for the Dungeon Master to define in their world.

The adventures offer many different structures and locations to explore. There’s everything from an angel-ruled city to the intrigues of the shopkeepers in a small bazaar. Each adventure comes with a small gazetter of the civilization for futher adventures in the culture or location as well as suggestions for where these adventures might take place in one of the established settings for Dungeons & Dragons.

What Is A Campaign Case? This new line of products looks to be a middle ground between scribbed maps on a piece of paper and the elaborate miniatures setups some players are able to access. Tables that prefer map or grid combat can use these cases without having to spend massive amounts of money on miniatures or terrain. Campaign Case: Creatures features four sets of color coded discs: 10 medium sized creatures, five large sized creatures and one huge creature in each color.

They can be further customized by a set of included clings featuring artwork from the history of the game. Altenately, printing out pictures and attaching via glue or tape could offer tables even more personalization. Journeys Through The Radiant Citadel and Campaign Case: Creatures are both coming out on July 19th via online stores and your Friendly Local Game Store.
