Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith have been seen in public together for the first time since the now-infamous Oscars slap. The smiling couple looked relaxed as they left celebrity hotspot Nobu in Malibu at the weekend. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air actor gave the ‘peace’ gesture and wore a navy blue polo shirt, matching trousers and a baseball cap.
Jada, 50, who kept her hand on her husband’s back as they walked out of the restaurant, looked glamorous even dressed down in black with a checked shirt tied around her waist and shades. As the world now knows, in March, the I Am Legend actor strode on stage at the prestigious awards ceremony and slapped comedian Chris Rock across the face. Seconds before, Chris had made a joke about Jada comparing her to GI Jane.
He later claimed he did not know she suffered from hair loss disease alopecia . That same night (and after the slap) Will took home his first Oscar for his performance in King Richard. Months later, and after he had been banned from the Academy Awards for 10 years, Will apologised for the slap and for telling Chris to keep his ‘wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth’.

Will also spoke candidly about what happened and said sorry to those impacted, including Jada and their family . However, it was claimed the comedian isn’t planning on following up with the Oscar-winner any time soon, despite the public apology.
‘Chris has no plans to reach out to Will’, an insider told ET Online . ‘He [Will] needs the public’s forgiveness, not Chris. ’ Meanwhile, the couple’s daughter Willow, 21, says she viewed it as a ‘human’ reaction, feeling her family’s celebrity status is the reason that aren’t viewed as such.
