[+] other Netflix show has before. Netflix We expect many shows to dominate from the very start. For instance, it was no surprise when the fourth season of Stranger Things opened with a bang (and then went on to break several Netflix records ); the first and second season of Bridgerton were destined for success as Shonda Rhimes projects, combining for nearly 1.
3 billion hours of watch time in the first 28 days of their respective runs; even Squid Game ’s supremacy quickly became undeniable, as the show set a record for most watch hours in a single week: 571. 76 million. There’s a different energy with Extraordinary Attorney Woo , though.
Because after opening with a modest 23. 95 million hours of watch time in its first week, not much was expected of the South Korean legal drama. But six weeks later when the final episode of Season 1 premiered, and Extraordinary Attorney Woo has separated itself from just about every other show in Netflix’s catalog.
How so? Well first of all, Extraordinary Attorney Woo had its best week yet this week with 77. 43 million hours of watch time. In fact.
. . every week has been the show’s best.
Which is incredibly rare for Netflix programs—in fact, it’s never happened with any english-language series that spent at least seven weeks on Netflix’s Top 10 charts. And the only non-english show to pull it off was the first season of Hometown Cha-Cha , which achieved 37. 74 million hours of watch time in late 2021.
In total, Extraordinary Attorney Woo has compiled 406. 7 million hours of watch time in the first seven weeks, which is the sixth-highest total amongst non-english-language programs on Netflix. Ahead of Extraordinary Attorney Woo are behemoths like the fifth season of Money Heist , the first season of All of Us Are Dead , and the second season of The Queen of Flow .

When we remove the first three weeks from each of those shows’ runs, Extraordinary Attorney Woo has actually performed better. In fact, only one english-language show has done better: Stranger Things. That’s pretty mind-blowing.
Here are the ten best runs for both english and non-english shows in Weeks 4-7. Notice how much space separates Extraordinary Attorney Woo from the bottom of the pack: Squid Game: Season 1 – 909. 44 million hours Stranger Things: Season 4 – 668.
64 million hours Café con aroma de mujer: Season 1 – 296. 81 million hours Extraordinary: Attorney Woo Season 1 – 279. 43 million hours Money Heist: Season 5 – 235.
73 million hours Maid: Season 1 – 206. 51 million hours Inventing Anna: Season 1 – 197. 51 million hours Bridgerton: Season 2 – 163.
72 million hours The Queen of Flow: Season 2 – 150. 06 million hours Stranger Things: Season 1 – 149. 85 million Of course, Extraordinary Attorney Woo has the added advantage of premiering new episodes each week.
But many other shows that continually add new episodes haven’t had near the same level of success. Let’s also not forget that Extraordinary Attorney Woo has managed to crack the daily U. S.
Top 10 charts a total of 22 times this year—a rarity for non-english-language programs. The only other non-english shows to notably achieve runs like this include Who Killed Sara?, Jenni Rivera: Mariposa de Barrio , and (of course) Squid Game . The show even reached as high as third place after the final episode of Season 1 premiered.
The biggest takeaway from all of these findings is that Extraordinary Attorney Woo may be destined for a level of domination never seen before on Netflix. While it may never reach the highs of Squid Game and Stranger Things , the show achieved its highest viewing numbers in the very last week of the first season’s run—so who knows when it will end? People are clearly still discovering the show. And Season 2 could be just around the corner .
