The big talking point from the 12. 19 patch notes is of course the update to Syndra, who has been an underwhelming champion for the majority of players for some time. Now, with a new passive that will upgrade her abilities, the hope is that she once again becomes a fun champion to play.
Transcendent has some new features that, on paper at least, seem pretty strong. When Syndra damages enemies she gains Splinters of Wrath. These restore mana when collected, and when she has 120 of them she gains 15% Total AP.
As always, her abilities will be upgraded throughout the game, but now it’s tied to the Splinters. When she gets 40 Splinters of Wrath, her Q will be able to store up to two charges. When she gets 60 Splinters of Wrath, her W will deal an additional 15% (+1.
5% per 100 AP) true damage. When she gets 80 Splinters of Wrath, Scatter the Weak’s cone is increased and also slows enemies by 70% for 1. 25 seconds.
Then finally when she gets 100 Splinters of Wrath, Unleashed Power will execute champions below 15% max health. “With this update, we’re aiming to recapture Syndra’s fantasy of unlimited power in a new way: a brand new passive that upgrades each of her abilities over time,” said Riot in the patch notes. “These changes should help Syndra players feel as though their power is growing over time and give more compelling upgrades ranging from more explosive burst combos to debilitating crowd control.
” Elsewhere in the patch, the goal has been to make some of the quirkier builds that have been popping up a bit more viable. The AP Twitch builds have been given some buffs, as has the interesting crit Garen build and AP Nunu. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Riot has decided to buff Blitzcrank to make them more a fighter and not just a grab machine.

Rek’Sai has been given a base attack damage nerf, going from 64 to 61, while Master Yi’s attack damage growth has been reduced as has the bonus AD on Wuju Style.
