Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Kiriko and her fox spirit in Overwatch 2 Blizzard Entertainment Overwatch 2 is free-to-play (well, beyond the requirement to have a console or capable PC, a solid internet connection and possibly a valid mobile phone number ). As you may expect, that means the game has microtransactions. There’s a new premium currency in Overwatch 2 called Overwatch Coins.
They typically cost $1 for 100. The premium Battle Pass costs 1,000 Coins, so that’s $10. There is, however, a way to earn Overwatch Coins for free in Overwatch 2.
Right now, there is only one way to do that: by completing weekly challenges. You can earn up to 60 each week, for a total of 540 over the course of a season. That’s enough for one premium Battle Pass roughly every two seasons.
Weekly challenges are the only way to earn Overwatch Coins for free in Overwatch 2 at the minute. Blizzard Entertainment You’ll need to complete 11 weekly challenges to collect the maximum amount of coins. You’ll get 30 Coins for completing four challenges, another 20 after completing eight challenges and an additional 10 for completing all 11.
These include tasks such as: MORE FOR YOU They Inherited Billions Upon Billions: Meet America’s Richest Heirs Tech Innovation To End Hunger: Scaling Blockchain Solutions With The UN World Food Programme And GBBC Giving Women In The Workplace: Tips For Accelerating Your Career Win 10 games Win 20 games in Competitive or Unranked (including Quick Play, Mystery Heroes and Deathmatch) Win 7 Arcade mode games Win 10 games each as 2 different roles (Tank, Damage or Support) in Quick Play or Competitive Play Mitigate 40,000 total damage Heal 65,000 damage Earn 50 eliminations or assists with Ultimates Earn 20 team kills You’re probably not going to achieve all of these in one day. It might even be tough for many people to complete all the challenges each week (that team kills challenge could be especially difficult). On the plus side, each challenge offers a reward of 5,000 XP.
That’s half of a Battle Pass level. To be clear: you will not receive any Overwatch Coins for progressing through the Battle Pass. That stinks, because other live service games such as Fortnite and Fall Guys allow you to earn in-game currency through their premium Battle Passes.
If memory serves me correct, reaching the end of the Battle Pass in either of those games will earn you enough currency to buy the one for the next season. That’s not the case with Overwatch 2, disappointingly. I hope Blizzard revisits its approach to free Coins and offers some as Battle Pass rewards in future seasons.
