Share to Facebook Share to Twitter Share to Linkedin Cyberpunk 2077 CDPR I’m catching up on news from the weekend, and I have three separate Cyberpunk 2077 -related stories I think I’m just going to combine into one offering here, as a few different interesting developments have happened. Sasha Grey Players of Cyberpunk 2077 may be familiar with someone joining the cast in the upcoming Phantom Liberty DLC. That would be Sasha Grey, the former porn star who has since become a Twitch streamer, and she’s joining the voice cast of the game.
Grey will voice Ash, who is hosting a new community radio station coming to Cyberpunk, which is the next item I need to detail here. Grey’s addition to the cast is similar to how the game added Grimes in a role as Lizzy Wizzy, with the singer not known for lots of voicework previously, but an interesting, eye-catching addition. It’s not clear if Grey’s Ash will appear in-game at all, or if she will just be a DJ voice on the radio.
All we know so far is that Ash is a member of The Mox, like Judy. It’s called “89. 7 Growl FM” and the idea is that the station will feature music made by Cyberpunk 2077 players themselves. From now until November 30, Cyberpunk players are invited to submit a track based on the video below which features Grey’s Ash talking about her new radio station: The song can be in any music style, should be between 2-3 minutes long, and can be in English, Spanish, Japanese or Chinese.
The “don’t” rules are essentially, don’t steal any music and don’t be racist, sexist, homophobic or xenophobic. 12-15 songs will make it to the radio and you’ll get $3,000 and some Cyberpunk swag. Sounds like a pretty neat idea to me, though cynically, perhaps a way to get new music into the game without paying a ton in licensing for existing tracks.
Cyberpunk 2077: No Coincidence – A Novel Cyberpunk 2077 Amazon CDPR has seen what can happen when you unleash the Cyberpunk IP into other mediums like they did with Edgerunners, and now they’re greenlighting a Cyberpunk 2077 novel, the first of its kind. It’s from Polish sci-fi author Rafal Kosik, and called Cyberpunk 2077: No Coincidence. It won’t be out until August 8, 2023, but I’m intrigued by the idea.
Here’s what we know about the story so far: “In sparkling Night City, a ragtag group of strangers have just pulled off a heist, robbing a convoy transporting a mysterious container belonging to Militech. The only thing the group has in common is that they were blackmailed into participating in the heist—and they have no idea just how far their mysterious employer’s reach goes, or the purpose of the artifact they stole. This newly formed gang—composed of a veteran turned renegade, a sleeper agent for Militech, a computer nerd, a therapist, a ripperdoc, and a techie—must learn how to overcome their differences and work together, lest their secrets be unveiled before they can pull off the next deadly heist.
” It actually sounds vaguely similar to one of the later plots during the run of Edgerunners, but I don’t believe it has anything to do with either Edgerunners or the events of the game, other than existing in the same world and city. Though I imagine that like Edgerunners, there may be some overlapping minor characters or cameos. Regardless, I can’t wait to read it.
