WWE Raw also featured the return of an unmasked Nikki Kross in the main event. Kross attacked both Bianca Belair and Bayley following Bayley’s win over Bianca. WWE Raw advertised Bianca Belair vs.

The Guerrero references continued as Dominik referred to himself as the Eddie Guerrero of his generation. AJ Styles countered, by calling him the “James Ellsworth of his generation. ” For what it’s worth, I miss Ellsworth.
This match was good enough to earn two of the most low-energy “this is awesome” chants you’ll ever hear. Fans did pop huge, however, for Rhea Ripley to body slam Karl Anderson. It’s sure to go viral, and hyperbole aside, it was the women’s version of Hogan slamming Andre.
If assists are a legit stat in pro wrestling, Ripley should be credited with two assists for Balor’s win. R-Truth def. The Miz Calls The pop of the night went to Dale Earnhardrt Jr.
, who was promptly cut off by The Miz claiming he could beat Dale Jr. in a NASCAR race with his Tesla. Johnny Gargano has been carrying a whistle around with him for two weeks now, and he’s threatening to blow it.
This is officially a Tekashi 69 gimmick. R-Truth really woke this crowd in his hometown. Miz waffled on wrestling him until Johnny Gargano made a joke about Miz’s tiny balls.
Based on the pre-match promos, Corey Graves promoted this match as taking place to defend the honor of macaroni and cheese. R-Truth continues to thrive in his comedy role, but there really is something to him and Shelton going on an “OG” babyface chase for the tag team titles. The finish saw Johnny Gargano dress up like The Miz and scare him into a rollup.
Good on R-Truth for earning his first television victory of the Triple H Era. There was a great ending to a backstage interview with Bayley and Candice LeRae. In it, the camera man was knocked down and all you could hear was intense brawling as Raw went to commercial.
Austin Theory def. Mustafa Ali Austin Theory has progressed as a performer since winning Money in the Bank, but his credibility has completely cratered because WWE doesn’t let him win anymore. Mustafa Ali donned newMuay Thai-style gear.
At this point, Anything is worth a try. Fans were more into Seth Rollins (who was on commentary) than either of these guys. You can’t blame them, WWE hans’t done anything to make either Theory or Ali look like a star in months.
Omos def. Local Competitors Omos defeated four local competitors, and exactly zero of them had last names. Fans sat quietly through this entire segment.
Still, I feel like there will be some juice behind Omos vs. Brauns Strowman as long as they keep it short. Elias def.
Chad Gable This was a sneaky good match, highlighted by an Elias flying knee to Gable mid-moonsault. If Elias is so sensitive about protecting the legacy of his younger brother Ezekiel, shouldn’t he be going after Kevin Owens, who put Ezekiel out of commission to begin with? Baron Corbin def. Johnny Gargano Backstage, JBL cut an excellent heel promo on Johnny Gargano about wrestling in Single A baseball for 10 years.
Later on commentary, JBL exclaimed “Gargano wrestled for Single A Baseball for 10 years. Some consider it a badge of honor, I consider it an indictment!” Clearly aware of the memes about his fit from last week, JBL wore less baggy pants, which—as a heel—I think baggy pants would get him more heat. JBL followed up with a promo on the 2-5 Carolina Panthers, yet it would have stung far more had the Panthers not shocked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers yesterday.
Kevin Patrick brought up Johnny Gargano being 4-1 since returning to WWE, which felt like commentary protecting him before suffering a defeat. Johnny Gargano was all over this show, and the loss to Baron Corbin due to outside interference hardly hurt him. Surprisingly, The Miz did not appear during this segment despite Johnny Gargano continuing to interfere in Miz’s business.
Miz did, however, appear in a backstage segment alongside Gargano to troll him with a sympathy card. Bayley def. Bianca Belair This match got a lot of time, but was closer to a TV main event than a pay-per-view main event.
The long Bianca Belair vs. Bayley match checks out with rumors of WWE doubling down on its women’s division in 2023, including the return of the Mae Young Classic and Evolution 2. Bianca Belair was defeated after the surprising return of an unmasked Nikki Kross.
