AENO’s Eco Smart Heater does a good job of providing efficient heat for a space but there are some design aspects – such as the ungrounded plug and unobstructed heating element – that could be better. The price is also a bit cost-prohibitive. I love my home.

The middle bedroom that I’ve turned into my home office tends to get very warm by the end of the day, but it is freezing in the morning. Our formal living room, which is my fiancé’s office space, gets quite cool as well during the winter and we are constantly shifting the thermostat back and forth a few degrees depending on what is comfortable for which room. We hesitate to use traditional space heaters because we don’t want to end up causing a power issue for other devices in those spaces.

The heating panel is one piece and it comes with the option to wall or ceiling mount or to use with the included stands. I opted to install the stands since we wanted to direct the heat underneath a desk. Screwing the stands into place was easy as large thumb screws are used to secure them in place.

Once the heater was assembled, I plugged it into a wall outlet (the plug is not grounded) and the heater entered pairing mode for the app. I had already downloaded the app and registered (free) an account so I just added the device to the app and it connected to our WiFi (after entering the proper password, of course). You do have the option of just controlling the heater through the controls on the side of the unit, but the app is very convenient – especially if you choose the wall-mount route.

As I mentioned, we set this heater up with the intension of heating an area underneath a standing desk. It’s a very open area and feet always get cold under there. The smart heater did a good job of providing warmth for the general area, but I could tell that it isn’t really designed for larger spaces.

I think it would have a very hard time keeping the temperature constant in those areas. I feel like it would constantly be on instead of being energy-efficient as it is designed to be. The surface of the heater does get very hot.

I used an thermal camera to capture the surface temperature and found that the highest temp was 213º and the lowest was 119º. If you place your hand a few inches away from the surface you can feel the heat radiating from the surface. I did accidentally tap the surface at one point and it felt dangerously hot.

There are many safety warnings in the user manual, but it is important to ensure that pets and small children stay away from the heater while it’s in use. The AENO Smart Heater does work and it works well. I think it’s a addition for people who are trying to heat specific spaces without drawing attention to the appliance being used.

In my opinion, this is a much safer option than a traditional smart heater that has open heating elements. The smart features really make it easy to “set and forget” the device and just let it do its job. This is a pricer option for heating than smaller heating units, but it’s a much more elegant solution.
