The GameSir G8 Galileo Mobile Gaming Controller provides a higher level of playing for mobile gamers. Even though some games are not available to be played with this device yet, GameSir has created a unique, pro-level gaming accessory. I’ve been gaming on my mobile device almost exclusively for more than 2 years now.

I found a community of people I enjoy playing with and that’s something I’ve not found on a console in a long time. When I started my mobile gaming expedition, I was only using the touchscreen of my iPhone as the controller. Since then, I think I’ve tried just about every controller available for smartphones so that I can find the best fit for me.

One of the limitations I had for the longest time was the fact that my iPhone was not USB-C compatible. That changed with this latest iPhone release and since I upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, I’ve been able to enjoy many more controller options like the brand new G8 Galileo Mobile Gaming Controller from GameSir. GameSir, a leading provider of innovative, high-quality gaming peripherals, has released the GameSir G8 Galileo Mobile Gaming Controller, a groundbreaking innovation that redefines the way gamers experience mobile gaming.

The GameSir G8 Galileo Mobile Gaming Controller elevates the mobile gaming experience with its console-sized sticks and buttons. For seamless connectivity, the G8’s cutting-edge movable Type-C port guarantees a dependable connection to gaming devices, delivering unparalleled smoothness and reliability, eradicating cable chaos and pesky disconnects. Boasting Pass-Through Charging, users can bid farewell to disruptions caused by a drained controller, ensuring gameplay remains uninterrupted by charging the users device whilst using the controller.

The GameSir G8 Galileo’s Hall Effect sensing sticks offer 360° seamless pinpoint control, providing the precision and durability that mobile gamers demand. Anti-friction glide rings enhance stick control, reducing stick grinding and extending usage time. In addition, the precision-tuned Hall Effect analog triggers provide unparalleled smoothness and responsiveness, for a competitive advantage in any game.

For FPS and action gamers, a quick switch to Hair Trigger Mode is available by holding the M+LT/RT buttons. Whether its precise linear control or ultimate responsiveness, the G8 controller gives the competitive edge required. Gamers can create personalized controller profiles by mapping buttons, fine-tuning the D-pad diagonals, and adjusting sticks and triggers zones.

It is even possible to set a 0 Deadzone through the APP. Gamers can immerse themselves in exclusive impulse triggers for all their games. The software also provides the convenience of updating firmware for the controller instantly.

The GameSir G8 Galileo is purposefully designed for universal compatibility. Featuring an extendable bridge from 110-185 mm in length and sufficient rear space (13 mm or below in depth) to accommodate a wide range of phone models, including the iPhone 15 series and Android. It’s the perfect choice for mobile gamers seeking adaptability, ensuring a seamless gaming experience.

The GameSir G8 Galileo Mobile Gaming Controller has a list price of $79. 99, but it is currently on sale for $71. 99 on .

* The gamepad can also be purchased through . The unboxing experience was very pleasant. Normally I struggle with the heavy packaging that is included with devices like this, but really made it a premium-grade step in the process of getting the Galileo setup.

When I opened the box, I found the controller sitting in a plastic mold that was designed to keep the device from shifting during transport. In the center of the controller was a box with the GameSir logo stamped on it in metallic red. Inside that box was the user manual and other paperwork.

The additional thumbstick options were set into the plastic mold with the controller so you could easily see what they were are first glance. Since the controller runs off of your host device’s battery, there is no cable included. You do have the option of plugging a USB-C cable into the bottom of the controller in case you need additional power, but it’s not required.

The instructions of the controller direct you to connect the phone to the USB-C port on the device and make sure it securely fits into the phone pad on the controller. Once the phone is connected, you can power it on. It does enter a standby mode within 10 minutes of inactivity, but it can be woken up by pressing the A/B/X/Y/home button.

This controller does have back buttons/paddles that can be mapped using controls on the unit itself. GameSir refers to this feature as ‘On-the-Fly Mapping. ’ There is a companion app that provides additional customization options and exclusive Android system support.

My game of choice for mobile devices is . I’ve been playing it for more than two years now and I have built up a nice cache of premium weapons along with a great group of friends to play with. So this was the game I tested the Galileo with the most.

I plugged my iPhone 15 Pro Max into the controller and logged into the game. I didn’t have any issues with the controller being recognized by the game, which has been an issue with some third-party controllers. It worked really well without having to make any mapping adjustments at all.

I played a few rounds and then decided to switch over to the Google Pixel Pro 6 to see how well the Galileo would work with it. The phone fit well into the controller but I did have some issues with the controls being recognized. I had the GameSir app installed on the Google phone and while the controller was recognized, I got an error on the screen about the compatibililty of the app and the controller.

I removed the app that had been downloaded from the Google Play Store and downloaded the app package directly from the GameSir website. This version of the app was able to read the controller and provide me with the option to customize it. When I lauched Call of Duty: Mobile, I was surprised to find that the Galileo did not work correctly.

The joysticks allowed me to move, but I couldn’t remap the on-screen controls to match up with the buttons on the controller. I attempted to troubleshoot the issue since I’ve had to before with third-party mobile controllers, but ultimately, I discovered that the Galileo is not compatible with CODM on an Android device at this time. GameSir has set up which includes a list of games that were tested and proven to work with the controller.

As you can see, CODM is included under iOS but not Android. It supports all controller-supported Android games as Soul Knight, Diablo Immortal, Minecraft, Fortnite, Dead Trigger 2, Asphalt 9: Legends, etc. It supports all controller-supported IOS games as Genshin Impact, Resident Evil 4, COD Mobile, Soul Knight, Diablo Immortal, Minecraft, Asphalt 9: Legends, etc.

I did end up downloading Diablo Immortal and playing for a while on the Google Pixel Pro. I found the controller to be very responsive and easy to use with that game. The GameSir G8 Galileo offers a commendable pro-level gamepad experience for mobile gaming, particularly on the latest USB-C compatible iOS devices.

Its seamless integration with games like Call of Duty: Mobile on the iPhone 15 Pro Max showcased its compatibility and efficiency. The controller’s performance made for a satisfying gaming experience. It was disappointing to find that the Galileo was not universally compatible across platforms though.

This limitation could be a drawback for users who prefer to have cross-platform compatibility while mobile gaming. Nonetheless, the Galileo proves to be responsive and user-friendly. The controller’s compatibility with a range of games on both iOS and Android, as indicated on GameSir’s list, positions it as a viable option for mobile gamers.

While it falls short of being universally compatible with all games, its performance in supported titles suggests that the GameSir G8 Galileo is a recommendable choice for individuals seeking a high-quality gamepad experience on smartphones.
